thought you already had 55 springs on back?

PS. Profits Cruisers sends their warm wishes. Sounds like you'll be getting a x-mas card from them for all the sheit you've been ordering! :flipoff2: What all are you doing to your rig now?!

cheers-
Dustin

DO NOT BUY MAN-A-FRE SAFARI SPRINGS

They are the same thing as Pinnacle springs, made by McCoy. I hate them, and look forward to the day I shit can them. They sagged so bad the PO installed an add-a-leaf all the way around, and even then the rear sags more than the front does. The ride is awful as well. I am going to replace them with Alcans. If I had more money, I'd probably buy Beltons.

Ask Ige what she thinks of McCoys.

ah, yeah, the man-a- fre springs I am told (talked about this just today actually) bend up really fast. My friend Doug had them on his rig and he bent them right away. He is SOA though. This was for fj40 springs though, not 55's.

Is this with the 4" springs? Most of the problems I have read seem to be with the 4 inch springs. The 2.5 inch springs have 50% more spring leaves. I haven't had any problems with the 2.5 inch MAF springs on my 40 for the past 5 years.

I have a pair of 2" lift / 9-leaf fj55 rear springs in the back of my 40 (picked up from Morgan)...can't confirm the brand, but I believe Morgan said they where MAF.

I would like to replace my front rancho 40 springs with another pair of the 55 rears.

I called around, and got the following info on 55 rear springs:
MAF springs are 8leaf - $125
JTO springs are only 5leaf - $150

They are advertised as 4" lift springs , but this is achieved w/extended shackles...The springs are more like 3" (maybe swap them for the rear).

thanks for the input,
manny

They only make one 55 spring, which is advertised as 4". I think my reworked stock springs on my other truck have more height to them than my McCoys do.

They also are about the same length as a stock spring- they did not add any more length to the spring when they measured the original, they just added arch to the same length spring.

Edit: they are shorter height but I would go with SOR's ironman springs (if that's what they still sell) before I went with JTO or MAF. They are both McCoys, no matter how many leaves.

I have the MAF 2.5" set on my 60. Installed 3 yrs ago. Probably lost 1" in lift over that time. I'd call it "settling in" not sagging. Huge improvement over what I had (OE), but in hindsight I should have ponied up the extra $ and gone OME. However, for the cheaper price, the MAF kit works fine.

The safari from MAF are McCoys just like Pinnacle and TPI Smokey Mountain. The funny thing is that some people have had good luck with all of these and others have had horrible luck. My opinion is that quality control is very lax when they are made. You might get a good set but you might not. I would look at Alcan, CCOT HFS or OME Dakar.

McCoy sold off their spring making division over a year ago, so they no longer make springs. Who bought it and whether they still make after market springs isn't clear. According to their old web site "McCoyUSA" (which no longer works), they made the vast majority of aftermarket springs in the US, including Skyjacker, Superlift, Rancho, Black diamond, Rough Country and many private brands, like MAF, JTO, etc.

If it is true that they made all these different springs, you would expect that the QC would be the same for springs coming off out of the same plant. The apparent differences in the rates of problems may have more to do with the design of the springs rather than the manufacturer.
