: Missouri events for 2005
Introducing a new rockcrawling organization to the midwest! We are called MoROC (Missouri Rockcrawling and Offroad Competition). This will be our first year holding competitions. Our event rules are very simular to WErock/CalROCS. However, MoROC has 4 classes and they are organized a little different that most, offering more to the little guys.
We put on three types of events:
Rockcrawling competitions-points
Woods Racing-timed
Trail runs
Competitive class groups:
Stock
Modified-stock
Super-modified
Open
Non-competitive trail groups:
Easy/beginner
Moderate
***Full size moderate*** (specifically Hummers, Blazers, full size trucks)
Hard (minimum of 33" tires, lockers recommended)
Extreme (35" tires, a minimum of one locker, and a 6 point cage required) (Bi-passes on all obstacles.)
By holding these 3 completely different types of events, we hope to capture the interest of all the surrounding 4x4 communities.
MoROC 2005 schedule:
April 30-May 1. Trail Run- Potosi, Mo
June 4. Trail Run- Potosi, Mo
July 10. Woods Race- location TBA
August 26-28. Rockcrawling Competition- Potosi, Mo
Most events (in 2005) will be held at:

I mentioned on another forum your conflicting date on the Potosi trail run. You had mentioned that that event was out there to sort of guage interest, but it's also the weekend of the 4Wheel & Off-Road Jamboree Nationals in Springfield, MO. Might wanna avoid that weekend next year. We have a number of trail-riders (not many interested in rock-crawling though) in the Mid-Missouri Off-Roaders based in Union - which is only an hour from Potosi. But, I can guarantee most of them will be in Springfield April 30-May 1.

tonyjsmithjr01 03-27-2005, 04:46 PM Ya that is the weekend of the Orielly 4x4 jambore, isnt it.
I know it is a schedule conflict. Was not aware of this when we made the schedule. Will definately consider this days event in the future. However, please also understand that it is extremely challenging to pick dates that do not conflict with others. Our concerns go well beyond the local clubs and events, we also have to deal with the national events too.
Because we are a new rockcrawling organization, we don't get the prime dates we want. We must pick dates that have not been pre-choosen by promotors such as werock east, uroc east, neuroc, vrock, and RRock. Once we sorted through all those, we were left with only so many dates. The trail runs were not nessessarily a conflict because they are totally different events than rockcrawling comps. Then we went locally and checked on dates prescheduled by large local jeep clubs and parks, mainly MWJT,MRJT,OJT, Jeep Chicks, TRJC, and SIJA and RORP. Mid-Missouri will be on our list for next year.
It's impossible to please everyone. I hope both our events have excellent turn outs.
Your right, we are trying for an excellent showing. This is an ultimately low price for a trail run here. Normally the land owner charges $35.00 per day with $10.00 passenger fees. People pay it because it is excellent wheeling (variety, natural trails, scenery, location, 6,000 acres to spead out on. Plus no ATV's.) MoROC has gotten permission from the land owner to hold a trial trail run for $20.00 per vehicle per day with no passenger fees. Great price, great opportunity. If we fail, the price will return to normal. If we succeed with the land owner happy, the prices will be low for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, no. They are doing a bog & it's real unorganized. I think they only had about 5 or 6 enter it last year since they didn't publish any info about it. For some unknown reason, they paved the infield at Springfield a few years back & the upper classes of the drags couldn't get stopped once they left the dirt & hit that pavement with muddy tires. So, they just ran the lower classes 2 years ago & then went to a bog starting last year. Bog racing is more popular than drags around here so if they would just put a little effort into it, the bog could be huge. Sadly, they won't put in the effort :( There's going to be some events in Heber Springs, AR this year. Wanna know more?

Tolly 03-28-2005, 09:57 AM I am very interested in this series coming from MO. We need more options in the midwest. I wouldn't worry about conflicting with the East and West coast schedules too much, as most of those competitors will not travel too far in between comps.

Hey Tex I think Gary Decided to do the night race at Summers River the Saturday night of the 4 wheel jambo here in Springfield. So there is mud racing just not affiliated with the Jambo right now.

Well, the Jamboree apparently IS doing a bog, they just aren't forthcoming with any info. Typical BS from Special Events ever since Gary Baker sold NMRO to 'em :( Anyhow, it's good to know if I haul my junk down to the Jamboree & decide to give those clowns a big "Ef Ewe" I still have someplace to get muddy ;)

You need to come up for the Jambo, John is going to have a booth there and I am sure he would like to have your car there. I will be there as well, it is a pretty good time in, in good weather.
