does anyone here use these? how are they on the road? do they flex as good as the tech articles claim? i'll be around 4-4.5 inches of lift with this on an 89xj, will a SYE or custom driveshaft be needed? they say the have a strap for these that bolt to the diff cover to help keep the driveshaft from seperating, will this work instead of a sye?
thanks for all help and opinions

Use the revolvers at your own risk.
They have a tendency of letting the rear suspension unload on declines and under hard braking. If that's how you get your jollies, then by all means......
A SYE isn't meant to keep the DS from slipping out of the TC.
Rather it allows you to run a double cardan DS and not overload the output bearing; also, it keeps you from spilling out all of the fliud from the TC in case of DS breakage; and it lets you upgrade your output shaft from 27 spline to 32 spline on the NP231.
IMHO, I wouldn't run revolvers. Especially on a rig with a slip yoke and stock length DS. If your junk is lifted, don't even think about it.
I would rather set up the rear leaves to flex.
However, you can't argue with the flex they contribute to.

how would you set up the rear springs for maximum flex? that is basically what i'm after. this is my dd so i might need to steer clear of these

Longer and thicker leaf packs with thinner leaves.

BDS springs... can't say enough about the flex and they drive well on a DD. Looking at your other questions, custom DS, all depends on lift and how far the SY extends out of the TC, too much extension and it will start to vibrate / tear itself apart. SYE is always a good idea. Something to bolt to the diff cover to keep the DS from extending out of the TC? possibly a limiting strap? unless your linking the rear why would you want to limit articulation? some folks do... so whatever floats your boat, I try to let the suspension move as much as possible, but thats just me... :grinpimp:
Good luck

i was reading on a tech article that the used a strap on the rear diff cover using these revolver shackles. it did say it limited flex, but still had plenty.
thanks again

The limiting strap will not limit articulation. The wheels can still travel up and down just fine. It also has nothing to do with a link setup, unless you are using it to compensate for excessive antisquat or antidive. It is intended to limit the full axle extension to keep the driveshaft from binding. It is not a bad idea if you need one, but do you?

Had them and made them buy them back. Biggest POS out there. When your side hilling they will unload at the worst time. Also got alot of axle wrap with them. Get good flexing springs or check into nth degree. at least there kit is lockable.
