I've got a late 80's 4.3 with a blown rod that i'm going to be swapping in my jeep. I've got a '95 "vortech" 4.3 that's "blown", no clue what's bad in it. Can i swap a rod and piston out out of the '95 into the tbi motor? Are they the same? Also are the vortech heads any better then the throttle body heads and will they swap right on? Are oil pans the same? I'm going to use the '95 motor for mock up and then adventually swap in the throttle body motor when i'm ready for it. Both motors are out of s10's. Thanks for the help, if this belongs in newb please move it.

i think that you should be able to swap the pistons but there should be no noticable improvement with the 95 heads but if you could find a set of 96 and up heads then you will have the better runners and combustion chambers, check out this article it has been by far the best i have seen
