: Anybody running Proffitscruisers rear 4 link kit?
lcruiser 03-29-2005, 12:15 PM Is anyone running a 4-link rear suspension kit from ProffitsCruisers with coil springs on their FJ40? If so, please let me know how it performs. I have heard good things so far but I thought I would ask the question here too. Thanks
whipinfast 03-29-2005, 05:48 PM Proffitt put the 4 link on mine last year before CM. It works incredibly well. Order one up, it's sweet. :smokin:
proffitt'scruisers 03-29-2005, 05:48 PM There was some talk about it on one of the Aussie forums lately as we have recieved a couple more orders from down under this week.
We are currently doing two for customers right now that may be members of the pbb, but I dunno
Rockzar 03-29-2005, 05:52 PM I want pics! Is this a "bolt on" kit or do you guys only fab it up in your shop? I would have saved my pennies and done the coils instead of 55 springs. :D
BTW Kurt, I have your axle return all packed up and ready to ship back to you guys. Hopefully putting your axle under my rig this weekend.
<edit- doh!, I was thinking Cruiser Outfitters! getting my vendors all mixed up from huffing all this grinder dust doing my SOA! Jeremiah, got my springs. Thanks man! :smokin: </edit>

ranger 03-29-2005, 10:43 PM I'd be curious to know what the "kit" runs?
BigRed87 03-30-2005, 12:35 PM Ya'll need to get a 4 link kit out for 60 series, and maybe a 3link for the front, that is what I'm waiting for.
Have any pics?
Any plans for a 3 link with wishbone?
Mekanix 03-30-2005, 12:44 PM What he said. . . I'm half way thru custom fabing one for my 40 series.
4 link front and rear rocks!
Pics and prices please:)
Jeremaih, I presume you're gonna be at CM05?
You could maybe deliver some junk?
dieselcruiserhead 03-30-2005, 04:24 PM We are currently working on Proffit's new site as we speak, it is much better and has photos and prices of all of these. Here is a prelim photo of the kit, it is baaaadass, those who have seen Ian's white FJ40 at past CM's have also seen it in action. Here is how the kit comes... When the site is ready (within the week at the latest we are anticipating) I will post a link where there is a writeup and more pictures... I am also not affiliated with Proffit's, just doing their site...

dieselcruiserhead 03-30-2005, 04:26 PM Here is some prelim text...
In our opinion, coils are more practical for rear suspensions than coil overs. They are cheaper and offer the same travel and stability. You don't need to worry about road handling as you will find that our suspension performs very well both on and off road.
Rascal 03-30-2005, 04:49 PM Hmmmm - looks like a fun winter project...
Rockzar 03-30-2005, 05:42 PM shaweet! I have wanted coils for my 40 for a LOOOOONG time.
Anyone know what the cost is on that kit?
-Dustin
Colorado Cruiser 03-31-2005, 08:54 AM anybody know how much $$
proffitt'scruisers 03-31-2005, 09:06 AM I tried to post last night but the computer wouldn't let me.
We offer the kit in the complete form that Andre posted the pic of, and in a basic, more "do it yourself" form.
The basic kit includes all frame and axle brackets, rod ends, a limiting strap kit, an axle truss, and full instructions. The cost for this kit is $650. You can add the coil spring hardware for $80 or the coilover hardware for $30
Here are a couple of pics that a customer emailed me of his rig with our kit installed
proffitt'scruisers 03-31-2005, 09:07 AM another
tornadoalleycruiser 03-31-2005, 10:04 AM Oh that is the coolest thing since the toybox! HOpe there are examples at Moab! I'd really like to check that out in person and see it in action.
Erik, Jeremiah, we need to schedule a stop in Delta on the way to CM05. I want a closeup of this...Jeremiah, is there an example to crawl around in the shop? Is this stuff on the shelf, or built to order?
Followup Q: what springs is this setup supposed to run? Sorta on customer order? Like flipped 55 rears? or is it strictly coils? Cool work Jeremiah :smokin:
tornadoalleycruiser 03-31-2005, 12:20 PM Guessing TJ springs..
Jeremiah, Dr (An)Dre.. Get that website updated!
Do you make different trusses for the axle side if for example someone was using an FJ60 axle instead of an FJ40?
And wheelbase? Adjustable or fixed?
Ahh Heck.. I'll just bring over a 12pack at Cruise Moab and hope there aren't any feet licking Aussie Cattledog puppies guarding the Newt and will just pop a squat till I get all my questions answered..
Chef it's a jog but do-able. Rather drop trailers up north on I-70 and take one tow rig down. But we can just wait for the whole gang at Moab!
dzknight 03-31-2005, 02:15 PM Is the $650 for both front and rear 4 link or just rear?
Colorado Cruiser 03-31-2005, 02:40 PM Im sure its the rear. What are the links made of Mr. Proffitt? What wheelbase?
proffitt'scruisers 03-31-2005, 11:12 PM $650 is for one axle. The control arm tubing we use is 1 1/2 od 3/4 id but it is not included in the basic kit. The pic Andre posted is the complete kit, requiring no extra parts and minimal welding. Either kit is fully adjustable for wheelbase from stock to ?. (We've done 114") We have kits in stock and ready to ship, with the exception of the axle truss, which is build to order for most any axle.
The basic kit includes
4 lower axle link brackets
4 upper axle link brackets
2 lower frame link brackets
2 upper frame link brackets
bolt and hardware kit
4 7/8 X 3/4 heim joints
4 inserts
4 1 1/2" bushing link ends
6 limiting strap ends and strap
axle truss (built for any axle)
full instructions
control arm tubing can be added and sold to you at our cost and we will weld on the bushings sleeves at no extra cost. (although the kit is more to ship in this form)
proffitt'scruisers 03-31-2005, 11:14 PM Oh ya,
TJ springs work but we've been using Ford 2wd 1/2 ton front springs with full tubbed cruisers.
wngrog 04-01-2005, 04:44 AM Very innovative! Great job Jeremiah!
dzknight 04-01-2005, 07:50 AM And what's the cost on the complete kit?
lcruiser 04-01-2005, 01:43 PM Good looking kit Jeremiah. I can't wait to see this in person.
mantis 04-01-2005, 01:50 PM Cool. I knew I was putting off my build for a good reason. Time to start scrounging up my pennies. :cool2:
proffitt'scruisers 04-02-2005, 07:47 AM The whole kit is built to order, and cost's just under $4000 for everything including both front and rear axle housings (landcruiser housings 40 or 60), springs, sway-a-way coilovers, control arms and ends, limiting strap kits, shocks, bolts and brackets, and lots more.
Uncle Ben 04-04-2005, 09:41 PM BTT  :grinpimp:
BayCruiser 04-04-2005, 10:04 PM Whats available for the front?
proffitt'scruisers 04-05-2005, 12:19 AM Same kit, just a little difference in the geometry and brackets, and built for coilovers only.
Advent Horizon 04-08-2005, 01:44 AM How is the frame height with this? With 37's? About the same as a standard springover?
Also, is there room up front with the 4 link for the 2F?
LC Hamma 04-08-2005, 09:28 PM built for coilovers only.
:p It's *easier this way not to add excess weight & save space with all the extra bracketry to mount seperate coils/ shocks, IMO, especially in the front w/a stock width LC axle. I just barely squeezed my coils in there & the back of the knuckle hits them when compressed, so my turning radius has shortened a little. Glad I mocked everything up before welding :shaking:
Also wanted to say that Jeremiah has a good thing goin' here with this custom link kit. It's about time somebody stepped up to offer a product where Warn thought it wouldn't sell. Warn's link kit was overpriced & you had to have a reputable shop install it $$$. Proffit's kit is a more do-it-yourself which is more appealing to most of us wannabe fabbers. And to think of the amount of time I spent on mine, this looks like a fair priced product. No affiliation, just glad to see an LC shop doin' it right! :) More pics of Rockwelled Cruzah's Jeremiah! :D
ToyotaFanatic 05-19-2005, 04:29 PM Hey Jeremiah,
Could you hit me with a pm on the price for the complete rear 4-link with the control arm tubing(nearest metal supply is crazy with their prices) for around 100" wheelbase with shipping to 37309.
Thanks man,
Robby
TMAN FJ60 05-19-2005, 08:08 PM Jeremiah, any plans for an FJ60 kit?
ToyotaFanatic 05-25-2005, 03:18 PM We I just ordered the 4-link kit from Jeremiah so i'll let you guys know when its up and running should be great though knowing Proffitts work.
Robby
85bj70 05-25-2005, 03:54 PM The rear is pretty sweet to say the least. The only thing cooler than the coils was watching Ian (think that's his name) ramp his 40 with morning coffee and not spill a drop.
jiriki87 05-26-2005, 03:07 PM I can personally verify that all the Proffitts 4 link set-ups are very dialed in. In the CM05' thread Someone posted a picture of Ian and the "llama" flexing on Poison Spider trail. The articulation even with 39's is perfectly matched front to rear.
No affiliation other then wheeling my Proffitts Fj-60 with SOA and 39's. The hoodless 60 will now have a 5.7 vortec residing in her engine bay.

maddog 05-26-2005, 07:15 PM I'm halfway in the process of 1/4 elliptic springs/swa coilovers, D-60 on my FJ40 rear, will that 4 link fit with that setup?? Also I'm interested in the front setup as well. After the rear I'll install a D-70 (already have) and swa coilovers in front. The price of the kits are very reasonable and if they save me time to get my rig back on the road I have my credit card out and ready to order.
maddog 05-27-2005, 05:46 PM Bump. I know Profitter is in here. Sorry for being so anxious but it's been over 20? hrs since my post but could you answer my questions please :)

Problem is I don't get off work till they close. Makes it hard since they don't have a contact email on their site. If they PM me, we can take it from there.
proffitt'scruisers 06-13-2005, 10:54 PM S@$T
Sorry maddog. I never have time to check the boards anymore. Email is info@proffittscruisers.com and there is a link now.
Also, I don't know what time you get off work, but I bet if you called the shop, we'd still be here. Try it sometime.
Jeremiah
BTW everyone, thanks for the support on this kit, and all of the other business.
