: Sponsorship 101
zukiester1 03-30-2005, 08:21 PM I would like to offer a BIG thank you to Dustin and Howard for the priceless information which they shared with us on Sunday night. I would also like to thank the guys at Moab Outpost for letting us meet in their lobby. I hope that this is the sign of a growing trend in information sharing to help us grow the sport in the right direction. Thanks again guys. :grinpimp:

SuperRanger 03-30-2005, 09:33 PM I completely agree. It was a wealth of information and much appreciated. My only regret was that we had to leave early (to sign with a sponsor!).
We may not all agree Dustin's well voiced arguements but we do all owe him a thanks for helping make the sport more "professional".
Thanks Dustin, keep doing what you are doing.
pure-adrenaline 03-30-2005, 09:36 PM I know Dustins info helped my team out on sponsorship a few months ago. After seeing some of the cliffs he used to jump off I wouldn't think he had any brains but he seems to have this sponsorship stuff down. :flipoff2:
Thump 03-30-2005, 11:14 PM Does anyone have any notes from this they'd like to share? We were not able to attend the event due to scheduling conflicts (mainly my day job).
If so, please PM me and I'll send an email address over.
I was really looking forward to this session and am so friggin bummed to have missed it.
Thanks in advance.

DOUG38S 03-31-2005, 06:24 AM 2nd that. Any video possibly?
zukiester1 03-31-2005, 06:38 AM I only seen brad taking notes, and no video anywhere. I think that everyone was so blown away at the amount of information that was offered up the whole room was motionless. Either that or everyone was so wiped out from the comp that they were sleeping with their eyes open. :flipoff2:
Dustin what are the chances of continuing this in Washington?
broncorob 03-31-2005, 07:42 AM Yep, if anybody has some notes, us east coasters would love to check them out
ShowMeTJ 03-31-2005, 10:33 AM I took some notes and can share what I have.
They are not organized were well, I had to keep writing smaller and smaller because I was running out of room on my scrap paper. I won't have time to organize things before the W.E. Rock event at Attica but if any of you will be there I can show you what I have. When I get back I will try to organize them a little and could email any of you what I have.
I also have to thank Dustin and Howard for sharing all of this information. I don't know where I could have ever learned this stuff without them. Dustin talked about maybe having some more discussions on this subject at future events and I may not be able to be there. I think it will do us all alot of good if those that are there could plan on taking some notes or video/audio recordings and sharing with the other competitors.
snobrder 03-31-2005, 01:26 PM I'm planning on being there, so I'll try to find you and get the info you have. Whatcha driving?
Guess Dustin needs to make some "self help" tapes for sponsorship
RedBullJeep 03-31-2005, 01:38 PM I'll try to do these from time to time...it was great to see so many people making it and actually staying through the whole thing. I know it was a ton of info to digest but really, each person was looking for something a little different so I tried to help by covering many topics in one session...Funny thing is, we didn't even cover 1/100th of the info you might be able to use but by starting with some of the basics, you can figure out so much more in a shorter time. Thanks for the kudos, I had a good time and appreciated Howard for presenting the view from the "sponsor" side of things.
I hope to find time to do it again...maybe even in Salt Lake if I get my new crawler ready in time to actually have a few minutes.
And to those wondering why I didn't post up about when/where...sorry. I didn't know until that evening and went straight from the comp to build a course for a VIP run the next morning and then straight over to Moab 4x4 Outpost (thanks so much Steve and Tough for letting us meet there) arriving with dirt and mud all over me from the day's antics. I didn't have tiome to change clothes, let alone post up our plans. Judging by the large number of people showing up, we really didn't have room for more anyway.

Thump 03-31-2005, 09:32 PM Definitely not enough big stickers on that one :)
If anyone wants to type up notes, mental thoughts, or if Duston would be willing to write up anything... I'd be happy to host it as a page for all to access, either on the shop's site, or on my personal site.
Just get in touch and I'll do all the formatting and arranging. I just need the content.
EDIT: And credit for the info will be given to the contriutor(s) so as to make sure everyone knows how great you are for sharing the info.
I could even just keep adding to it as info comes in.
white knight 04-01-2005, 06:07 AM Damn.... Wish we could have made it but by the time we finished the last recovery and packed up it was too late to be there. I would most absolutely appreciate anyone sending any notes or highlights on the subject.
SuperRanger 04-01-2005, 07:08 AM I took notes of part of the meeting but they do little to recreate it. They are mostly myt thoughts on the matter. I am pretty busy getting ready for UROC but will get something posted sooner or later.
