The info that I got is that it's a 20 ton. I have the chain drive and PTO stuff but I don't know for sure what this thing is good for besides a 300 lb paper weight.

It might be useful for somebody into equipment, but not very useful ona 4x4 IMHO. Really heavy, not easy to set up the PTO drive, unwieldly to use on the trail. Can you imagine trying to pull that heavy assed cable up a hill to an anchor point? :shaking:

You can probably take the gear off the input shaft and fit a standard pto yoke on it and get rid of the chain junk. Then turn down the drum sides to a normal dia. and put some smaller cable on it that is sized to the wieght of your rig. Its still big but it will work just fine. Ignore all of the electric is best junk, im guessing this winch is paid for and thats what counts. One other thing. Im guessing this winch doesnt have freespool so you will want a reversible take-off.

would be great for a 4x4 recovery rig but obviously the extra weight isnt good for a general wheeler. Also what ever you mount it on I would build one serious mount and hope the vehicle has a strong frame... that thing would have enough power literally rip apart alot of vehicles frames (hehe that would be one of the reasons I would want to run it!)

The winch came mounted in the bed of my parts truck (79 f250). I was just hoping to get some info so that I could sell it to some mudder.

MONTYWA, your an a$$ for putting that idea out there :flipoff2: . Now im looking at it trying to figure out all of the places I could shed weight off of the thing to use for a rear winch.

Any idea on what you guys think I could sell it for? (if i don't keep it :shaking: )
