you need to take the front off of a D18 and take the front off of your d20 and put the front of the d18 on in it's place... while you're at it, you might as well swap the gears too.

Try looking here www.lonestar-ebc.com I think that they had a writeup on a home made. It is for a Bronco 20 but maybe it will help if it not the same.

try talking to the binder boys. My '66 Scout 800 has a factor 20 twin stick. All you need to get the front to engage without the rear is to pull out the interlock pill

are you sure that you didn't mean "all you need to get the rear only to engage in low range is to pull the interlock pin"? That d20 is a straight through design, I don't see how it could ever bypass the drive to the rear wheels.
