I had a pinion eat a little off of my Detroit when the pinion nut backed off similiar to what Lance posted some time back, cant find the pic he had. I ran the detroit under the parts washer but am wondering if I should crack the case to see if there are any more shavings hanging out. Problem is I have never done it before, if I remove the allen bolts are a bunch of springs going to come flying out :) Any tips, tricks or instructions you can give would help out. CJboxer

I dunno what parts are in there but i would definitly pull it apart to clean, detroit is just too pricy to take a chance at wrecking.

I would suggest you take it to a shop or someone who has worked on them before. There are springs with a lot of preload inside. :nuke:
