I'm trying to gather the parts to do this swap with a friend on his 97 TJ 6cyl. Heres the list of parts I've come up with.

1) NV4500 tranny
2) Jeep T5 Bellhousing / Clutch Fork
3) Flywheel / Clutch Kit / Pilot, Throwout Bearing for 6cyl TJ
4) Clutch / Brake Pedal
5) Master / Slave Cylinder

What I don't know is if the input shafts on the NV4500 are the same. Can I just grab any NV4500 and bolt it up to a clutch and flywheel kit for a nv3550 6cyl TJ?

I'm almost positive that the output shaft on the 32RH tranny is different from the NV4500 tranny. What adapter do I need to make this work with the stock Jeep t-case?

Alright I know I'm a newbie but I'm having a hard time finding out the correct information on the net. Heres what I've got so far. I'm debating the NV3550 vs NV4500 because of the price of the adapters needed.

32RH input shaft 1 1/8" 10 spline (not sure on the length)
NV3550 input shaft 1 1/8" 10 spline (not sure on the length)
NV4500 input shaft 1 1/8" 10 spline or 1 1/4" 10 spline (not sure on the length)

32RH 23 spline output shaft (not sure if its flush or 1/2")
NV3550 23 spline output shaft (flush)
NV4500 29 spline output shaft (not sure if its flush or ???)

Advance Adapters make a conversion kit for the 29 spline NV4500 to the 23 spline NP231 t-case. Or I could get my buddy just to go with a NV3550 with has a 23 spline ouput shaft.

What I don't know is what to do about the bellhousing. Can I just use a Jeep bellhousing off a NV3550 or AX15 with an external slave cylinder?? If I go with the NV4500 which clutch kit do I get, can I just use a kit for a NV3550 since the input shafts are the same?

Can somebody help me out with the remainig info on a NV4500 or NV3550 swap.

We agonizied over a similar project--(NV4500 for a T5), Advance Adapt. NV4500 catalogue has the best info we could find. In the end we were able to build a hybred. Early 6.34 Gm gears in a late GM front case, early Dodge(23 spline) mainshaft with early Dodge rear 4x4 housing. Basically it just bolted in. If you have a good rebuild shop in the area, a visit to get some "live" measurements would be time well spent. Trans choice in the end is "where do you want to end up".

Okay my friends going to go with the NV3550 due to the fact that the bellhousing and t-case adapter is going to run 850 bucks and hes only running the inline 6 so it should be able to hand it fine. Hes trying to do this swap complete for 1 grand or less.

I'd rather not have to pull the t-case before we get all the parts to do the swap, however I've done some searching and I don't know if the 32RH tranny that he has has a flush or 1/2" long output shaft. I know its a 23 spline and the NV3550 is a 23 spline flush output shaft. I'm trying to decide whether he needs to get a new input shaft for the NP231 t-case.
