i just put a new alt, starter and batt in it now i am not getting any spark what so ever i have tested to make sure i am getting power to the distributer and i am when the key is on and in the starting possition, the only things i can think of right now that it could be is the coil or the electrical ignition control modual. if any one has a way to test them with out useing a scope or anything like that plz help me or if you can diognose from what i have stated thats great to thanks for the help.

just follow the path of the electricity to the point it stops flowing... well some times that easier then it sounds.
Is this an HEI motor (pretty sure it is) if so definatly checkout the control module and go from there. Also is your coil getting power?

A quick and fairly reliable feild test for an HEI module.
Connect your test light to the "tach" terminal on the dist cap ( it's the one right next to where your "power" wire is.)
When cranking the engine, the test light should blink.
Steady light or no light = bad module.

HEI systems are very easy....
do you have switched power to the big red wire going in? If yes, continue..
Pull the cover off of the coil and check to see if you have a pulsed signal when the engine is cranking from the lead going to the tach terminal. While you are in there make sure that the grounding strap for the coil is in place.
If it is blinking and you do not have power to the plugs, you have a bad rotor, arcing to ground. Or possibly a bad coil, but they VERY SELDOM fail.
If is not blinking steady when cranking, then pull the cap off and unhook the module. Take a volt meter and set it to AC volts and connect to the two leads from the pickup coil and crank the motor. You should read at least .5 - .8 VAC. If not then replace the pickup coil. If you do have good AC voltage, then the module is bad.
