I have an Np-205 out of a '79 F-250, i want to attach it to a bulletproof manual trans, preferably a overdrive unit but i can deal with a few hundred rpm's for a better trans. i need the trans to bolt to a small block. any help would be cool. :usa:

You know most Ford 205 had the front output on the drivers side and all Chevy axles have the diff on the passenger side? If its for a Chevy SBC engine and a 205 t-case, look at an SM465 tranny... nice thing about this tranny is it kinda make up for the weak low range of the 205 (1.96:1) with its granny first gear (6.03 or something :1)Super stalwart too...You could always put like an NV4500 or NV5600 behind it too but the SM 465 is my choice...Goodluck...

The thing is i am using the dana 60's from the same truck so i need the driver side output. are there any special adapters for the sm465 to yhe ford 205. do the bolt patterns match up ,do the splines fit correct?:usa:

Your gonna have to check with Advanced adapters on that one. Or if you have skills make your own adapter.:skull:
pure speculation
use a ford tranny and a bellhousing designed for chev engine - ford tranny.
it is fairly common to bolt ford toploader car trannies to chev engines. maybe the ford truck trannies share input shaft length with the old toploader.

Find a TH350 and NP203 (cheap). Hit www.offroaddesign.com and talked to Stephen. Get yourself a doubler :) Probably won't cost you much more than it will to get a Chevy engine or transmission to work with the Ford 205 or a ford tranny.
Stephen runs that set up in his Blazer. 350,700R4, NP203 reduction box, Ford NP205, Ford RCD60.
You know the big Green Blazer that came in second in 2001 Tough truck?...that's him.
