OK,
now ya can't flame me for this as i am used to adjustable rockers not hydraulic lifters, so this is new to me.
I replaced the head on my engine (mercruiser marine 140 {chevy 181 with mercruiser big valve/port head} in my rig, and realized that it has the chevy type rockers...and I know nothing about adjusting them?? at first I simply tightened them down all the way...ok started and realized quick that all were opening the valves, not just the ones that were supposed to...so figured you apparently only tighten them down a certain point, than what? maybe run the engine with them loose and tighten when not clattering? or??

any help will be great. I am about to get the poor rig back on the road and this is all that is left to do

not that it matters, but it is in a '66 land-Rover

ok, I think I have an answer..father-in-law assured me it's simple

...tighten down to just about touching, than start up and continue
tighten til just past clatter, than turn down another 3/4 turn..

now I wonder what stops the nut from loosening back up? no lock-nut...or is there supposed to be one?????
