My buddy's got a 89 wrangler with a 2.5 ,4 banger , it turns 2500RPM all the time no matter what you are doing ? I took the air tube off the throttle body and looked down inside it and its dumping gas in it bad . I thought for sure it was the TPS sensor . he replaced it and that wasn't it ? I'm new to the jeep thing so I got some dumb questions . 1. where is the computer in this thing . 2. how do ya check the codes 3. do you have to adjust the tps sensor after replacing it ? 4. how do ya reset the computer ? just unplug the battery ? please help !

Tell your buddy to post up in newbie, while you take some time off for English classes.

Not sure if you have one, but check the IAC (Idle Air Control) that might be that source of your problem. Its on the back of the throttle body.

i had the same problem in my 93 wrangler, i changed the tps sensor, the o2 sensor(just needed it) ran fuel injector cleaner for a while none of that helped, i had to replace my fuel injectors

have you checked for a vacumn leak. the gasket between the throttle body and intake will split and cause a high idle. look for vacumn leaks at the manifold also. i just did a manifold gasket on a 91 because of high idle. if you dont find any leaks then suspect the I.A.C. motor, as for codes if the I.A.C is stuck it would not though a code anyway. but you can turn the key on and off 3 times and the light should flash.
