I wish I had posted the zr2.5 over here. this forum could use it and I love how we get to chit chat in our own threads here in chevy. Do you still want a doubler? I got my plates done. Heath and I are sending off the next round of shafts (a ford for him and me and my PG shaft to make 27 spline.)

Pdaddy 04-07-2005, 07:01 AM Hey a pic you can see in the daylight :flipoff2:
So whats up on a side shot? Is it getting coils or Airs? Looks cool lots of bends in it I dig it!!
blacksheep10 04-07-2005, 09:03 AM it is getting pulled outside and kicked out for a while so I can work on other shit. When it is outside, I will get some daylight pics of it and a side shot will be included. You know how it is in my shop. very cramped and hard to see from the side, so I haven't really seen it from the side yet either  . Like I said, got the coil buckets done and ready, just need to make clamp plates for the top and bottom of each coil. For now it is Aerostars til we figure out what he needs exactly. Because of space constraints and need for bling, it is getting coil overs in the front. Probably SAW remotes :smokin: . Do you think I could have a mod move it over here because it is mostly chevy (well the cab, engine, tranny and half of one of the transfer cases is)
Pdaddy 04-07-2005, 09:28 AM Im sure a mod would move it over here if you asked.
Aerostars....thats brave  :flipoff2:
blacksheep10 04-07-2005, 05:23 PM Yeah, they were what I could come up with. I can make the mounts as tall or short as I want if they don't work out. Maybe some coil overs if he doesnt like them :smokin:

- new front floors and supports, including heavily reinforced seat mounts
- S&W family cage (rear portion still needs some more bars)
- custom front bumper and Ramsey 9k winch
- recessed rear taillights
- heavily grooved and siped tires

Brook,
Could you give me some more informatoin on this? I need to do this to my Doubler which is an exact copy of yours. Does this site tube become your fill tube as well? Could you let me know what the top portion of the tube looks like and what keeps the tube from leaking where the two different type materials mate? Would you mind spilling the beans - your site forums are inaccessable for me at this time?

There's the only pick i have of my girl friend's pile of s10, picked up it up for $110, it's a '91 4.3/5 speed looks like ass. Bought it last tuesday, welded the rear, threw away the box, cut the fenders, put on some free shitty 33's, made a front bumper outa a piece of tube i had lying around. Took it out saturday to pop it's cherry before my girlfriend starts to beat the piss outa it. It's not cool by pirate standards but it works for the UP trails. Right now the old lady is paiting it with lime green house paint and throwing some black flames on it.

shaggyk5 04-19-2005, 01:21 AM This is a pic heavy combination of posts from another board. So if it seems like im having a conversation with myself, i wasnt.:)
well I started it thursday, pulled the bed off and began cutting. I started in the rear, cause it was easier.
I moved the wheelbase up to approx. 116" from standard 131.5" , I moved the front hangers up halfway under the front bed mount.( about 15") I put on the shackle flip I took off my blazer, and the long shackles. I swapped out the 6 leaf 1 ton 63's and put in a set of 1/2 ton 63's (3+1 leaves). The flip brackets got mounted at a point so the shackle would have a good angle (45 degrees or so, Im going for a droop monster. :D ) I have a tow hitch I'm going to mount between the frame rails immediately behind the shackle flip brackets, and the rest of the frame behind that will get cut off. Im estimating I'll lose 1.5-2 feet of frame off the back.
Heres the only pic i have online yet, it's the flip bracket. You can see the old rear hanger at the back, and get an Idea of how much shorter the wheelbase will be. i took more, ill try to get them up tonight.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/TorkDSR/4-15-05%20garage%20flex/100_0504.jpg
Oops, found another. You can see the front hanger in this one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/TorkDSR/4-15-05%20garage%20flex/P4160012.jpg
Gotta go get started on the front axle now. More updates later.
alas, no new pics tonight. f***ing camera/computer interface problems, my buddy is getting me a disc of them tomorrow, so I'll have major pics sometime tomorrow. I took a sh*t load today.
as far as progress goes: I got the passenger side front rear hanger done and in, and the drivers side started. I used the front(rear) spring hangers from an 85 dually crewcab we had here to be scrapped. Looked great all was well till i mocked it up and the hangers were not giving me 31.5" on center like they should, I was getting 33.5" . I got all wound up thinking this was due to my 2wd 1 ton frame ( a little different than other IFS trucks, IE heavier and wider) So I looked at a few of the other trucks around the place (we have a few) and it turns out that the offset on the hangers from the dually were different than the ones on all the other 1/2 & 3/4 ton trucks we had, by 1 inch. (Side note: this explains why the spring perches are different in 77-87 1 tons, the difference is actually in the hangers, not the frame itself)
So the problem was that I had 1 ton hangers and needed 1/2 or 3/4 tonners. (which i didnt have any available for use) Since im taking up valuable garage space and i dont want to wait longer than neccessary to get this done, I looked around the scrap steel rack and found some 1"x2" 1/8th wall box tube, that I can put behind the dually hangers to space them out. Now this meant more drilling, and a few headaches trying to align a bunch of holes going through lots of different things, but I got the passenger side hanger fabbed up, painted, and mounted.
Moral of the Story: If you are going to do this using stock hangers, make it easy on yourself and get them from a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton pickup, not a 1 ton. Blazer hangers are the same as the 1 tons as far as the offset goes, so they're out too.
The stock exhaust Y pipe had to come off due to interference with the hanger, but there is still plenty of room to make something work. I have a stock rear shackle hanging there now, but I think I want to make longer shackles, like 5-6"s or so, to work with the 52"s I'm putting up front.
Ill have pics tomorrow, i swear.
shaggyk5 04-19-2005, 01:24 AM PICS!!!!!!!
Rear spring, front hanger closeup, im gonna put a few more bolts in these...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild1.jpg
Front IFS stuff removed. all the remaining brackets will eventually get cut off.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild2.jpg
all the old stuff...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild3.jpg
And then the new. using the 8lug 10b for now, (free!) saving for the ford 60 and doubler.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild4.jpg
This is the hanger off of the dually. the correct hanger to use has 1" more offset from the frame side. I also cut between 3-4" off the top of these because it would have stuck up past the top of the frame.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild5.jpg
Since i didnt have the correct hangers on hand, and because time was of the essence, i put 1/8 wall 1x2" box as spacers behind each side of the hanger.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild6.jpg
shaggyk5 04-19-2005, 01:28 AM here is the spot on the frame where the hanger will mount. since the cutout extends to where i have mounting holes, i left the rear side of the hanger longer to span the opening. you can see the holes on the frame where I drilled for the mounting bolts. (this step was a major pain in the ass, tired arms, hot burning metal falling on you etc.)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild7.jpg
here is the hanger mounted on the frame. the hard ware is all 7/16". Because I used spacers i had a hard time finding bolts long enough to go through.(I drilled allthe way to the outside of the boxed frame for peace of mind.) it turns out that chevy smallblock engine mount bolts are the perfect length, so i found as many as i could, ill be getting more for the rest of the job. ( of course i could have avoided that dificulty altogether if I had used the correct hangers :( )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild8.jpg
Here it is with the shacke actually hanging. Like I said before, im using 52's up front, so im going to lenthen these shackles about an inch-2 inches eventually. since getting to the nut for the shacke bolt would have been a pain after it was mounted, i welded it to the back of the hanger first.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild9.jpg
nothing really hanging lower than the frame but the shackle. Just the way I wanted it. You can also see in the pic where the bolts came through the frame.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild10.jpg
42's anyone? these are the plan eventually.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/originalspanksta/gmcbuild11.jpg
I still have to do the other side from this and then the fron hangers, ill put more pics of that stuff when I get them. :D :woot:
blacksheep10 04-19-2005, 07:52 PM I hope you have sleeves in the middle of those tube and frame sections. If not, the tube will yeild along with the boxed section of the frame, thus loosening the bolts and causing them to break or wear off.

Man, I can't WAIT til this weekend. Havne't rolled in teh sheep since Oct. time to go out and get stupid again. Tonight we are making the other twin stick shifter for my case and putting both of our chromo outers in our 60's :flipoff2:
Tomorrow we install his 60 in his ricketty rocket. I am building him a cage and making his doors functional again with a little tlc, oh yeah, and some welding. Cooler mount in the works on his as well. Anyway, yeah, Zubak is all over coming down cause he isn't a pussy
Doubler, yes, coming. I have everything except one plate and a shaft. I need to get my powerglide shaft to wagoner to spline it and my plate made to adapt its 5 bolt pattern to a 203. the plates for the 203/205 and intermediate shaft are done.
Oh yeah, and here are a few pics of ben's stuff. he got the tires way too cheap. We should all laugh at him for copying the white knight. 44 bogs, chrome wheels, white s dime, etc. Next thing you know he will be building a big block for it

Pdaddy 03-14-2006, 06:06 AM I need to do that to my 14B... Ive just been lazy...
Heres my pile of parts currently.. I put coilovers up front with a 4link. This week I hope to finish the DE full hydro steer and put some exhaust on it. Then it needs frontdriveline and a shake down ride !!

Heck yes I did... I broke a CTM and a Yukon inner and decided that was the end of that. It worked out well cause I was wanting to link the front, had already bought the coilovers and had most the full hydro steer stuff stashed. The time was right for me so I took the plunge. :grinpimp:
Now Im wanting pretty hard on an auto and D300 or atlas...
