The last time I toured around Sth Vietnam I saw quite a few 404 mogs that for some reason had been converted to leaf springs on the rear axle while still retaining the torque tube and Panhard rod. The leaf springs were shackled on both ends. I also saw 404's on straight non portalled axles of possibly Russian or Chinese origin that looked a bit similar to huge Dana diffs.
