I got the motor mounts in and noticed they looked alot like the LCA bushings. I got out an extra bushing out, and what do you know? They have the same part numbers on them

I see what your saying, I have the same more mounts, but one thing I have noticed, the controll arm bushing has the seam in the inner sleave, the more bushing has a zinc plated tube, no seam  explain this...

Funny you should mention it, my old LCA's are being turned into motor mounts this weekend!

The only problem is that the LCA uses a 9/16" (or metric equivalent) bolt and the motor mount uses a 1/2 "(o.m.e.) bolt. I think I can sleeve the LCA bushing to 1/2" .

I'll post pics on Monday.....

Here is a pick of inside the zinc tube. It's not actually a tube. It's two (how to say this) half tubes that looks as if they are pressed in there and meet in the middle to look like a tube.

they sleaved it, and that would cure the diffrence in bolt size. :D

Hrm, I wonder if one could simply redrill the motor mount ears on the block to accept a 9/16" bolt. It would be a rather involved operation including ... *gasp* a drill and *ohmigawd* a 9/16" drill bit, but theoretically it is possible and would negate the need for a sleeve.

FYI, a buddy of mine just put a set of those "torsion rubber" M.O.R.E. mounts in his TJ and said that the increase in vibration transmitted to the cab was unacceptable (obviously "unacceptable" is a relative term ... relative to the amount of vibration absorbing Big Mac fat in your ass). I think I'm gonna' stick to simply "gluing" blocks of metal to the underside of my OE rubber mounts ... since I've got a pretty boney ass.

then you'd have to put spacers in there, the sleve they put in makes the bushing the same size as the mount.

Ah, an oppurtunity to "shift" the powertrain forward by using more washers on one side then the other ... quite handy in a TJ with a short rear driveline.

Unless jeep made some changes in material since 93 (yea, anything is possable) then the motor mount arms are aluminum. *cough I cough* a friend broke these arms when he accidently got a lil airborne. Dont think taking any material off of the stock motor mount arms is a good idea, even if it is only drillling a slightly larger hole. Motor sure looked funny sitting 4" lower than normal on one side:D
