Hello guys, I got a question about a 700R4 in my 80' Yota. It wont shift from 3rd to 4th, seems that the clutch plates have gone. In a situation like this, it is my best bet to just get it rebuilt or is there something I can do remedy the problem. Thanks for your help.

Well if you have second, and you have third, but no overdrive, then the problem isn't clutch/band related. Over drive stacks the 2nd gear band on while the 3/4 clutch is on.

You may have some valvebody issues, governor issues, or possibly the 4th apply servo is not sealing and applying. I would suspect you will find a valvebody problem.
