OK just got back from a local dealer looking for a tow rig yet again. They had a 2004 Chevy 3500 reg cab duramax 4x4 flat bed with the 6 speed. Looked like a really nice truck with only 24,000 miles on the odometer. Asked the guy how much and he said $13,000. Seems like an extremely good deal but fishy at the same time. I have still yet to drive it but I am planning on it soon. Why do you guys think it is so cheap? Anything I need to look out for on this model?

IMO, there's something DRASTICALLY wrong with it. That's WAY too cheap.

That's what I was thinking.....He did start it up for me and everything sounded good. I was in a hurry and haven't had time to really check it out though. The thing looked like it had never even been driven. I don't know much about diesels so I'm either going to look for another one or have someone check this one out really well first.....

get a carfax sheet and then get thier insurance or someone elses on the purchase then check to see that warranty is void on the truck. 24k miles that is way to cheap sounds like it went swimming or something and didnt have coverage now hes trying to dump it to avoid the wiring woes.

Did you ask the dealer guy if he was sure that's the right price??

I think that would be the first place to start. Maybe he hadn't had his morning coffee yet.

I am getting ready to call him back as we speak to make sure he gave me the right price. It even says 13k on their website though. I will try to do a carfax soon if I can.

It could also be a salvage title. Many insurance companies won't insure them
and if they do it's real expensive.

What if carfax checks out and the warantee is still good? If something goes wrong could it not be fixed or turned in as a lemon?

IIRC carfax is supposed to tell if it's a "lemon return". Also, in most states
they legally have to tell you that it's a lemon.

Aight thanks SanD, I am trying to get a carfax. I'll check it out and see what it says and try to get the dealer to talk!

If nothing is wrong with it, that is one hell of a deal. Just seems too good to be true.

Sorry dude but for a 2004 Duramax thats way low.. The 02-03' Duramax's had a problem with the Fuel Rail Rusting up on the inside.. but supposable they got that fixed on the 04's ..I'm with the other guys on this it must have been wrecked or went swimming at one time ..

Dear Casey,

Thank you for your inquiry on the 2004 Chevrolet C/K 3500. I am sorry that is not the correct price on that truck. I am truly sorry for the misunderstanding. Below you will find the information you

requested:

Make: 04 Chevrolet

Model: 3500

Internet Price: 29,450

By the way, we have several other vehicles in stock that are similar to these and less

expensive. We would be happy to provide you with information about those vehicles, equipment

options, financing, and anything else that will help you make an informed decision.

Here is what I found......Seems like they wouldn't have misprinted in ALL of their adds. It had 12,250$ on 3 adds they had produced!

Here are the adds. I guess the guy I talked too and everything just had the wrong papers or something. Or the dealership just had everything screwed up!

Oooo That would have worked out sweet if you made a deal. Oh well, we all have something that has slipped by like that.
