I am rebuilding my amc 360. bore .40 over etc. Where is everyone getting there pistons and rings from? I have called everywhere that I know of and I cant seem to find them. The machine shop gave me some part numbers, silvolite 2225 for pistons and hastings 2c139 that he recommended. Nobody I have called even lists these. Summit dont have them and jegs didnt even find them listed. Anyone, bueler?

go to the jeep section and search under AMC401 or AMC360. there are some great tips on engine building for AMCs DO NOT listen to any local machine shops they usually are morons when it comes to AMC's all tehy know are chevy motors.

EBAY has amc kits listed being sold by fastengineparts.com. or go to thier page they deal alot in amc engine parts and kits. thier cam's are really conservative for the rest of the kit, i almost suggest buying it and then getting a differnt cam from someone else Engle, Howards etc

Another stop is Bulltear.com contact MC on that page and/or over hear tellhim what you ahve and need he also gets good prices. Bulltear also has a forum section with a engine building forum there are some great writeups on 360 amc build ups there

MC does nickle plated timing covers, oil pump gearsets and oil filter adapters that are harder than the stock aluminium, last longer and are in spec so oil pressure issues are a thing of the past. his prices are really competitive his quality speaks for itself once you purchase one of his pieces.

One other thing DONT under cam that engine, step it up a few notches the factory cam was really aneimic in an attempt to be in compliance with smog and that motor is capable of so much more and will be so much more efficient with a good build up

ah man. Thanks for the reply. He recommended the pistons simply b/c they were pretty much factory replacement look a likes. And the rings he recommended were a chrome top ring, he says that the chrome will hold up better since I am running propane as primary fuel. But I will contact MC and fastengine parts. I was thinking about the summit cam, i searched around the board and that seems the most popular cam choice. Thanks.

for my first AMC build I got almost everything from http://www.northernautoparts.com/. The prices were o.k. and they were the only people I could find that had everything. After a bit of searching for the next few months I started getting into engine building more and I started mixing and matching places to get the parts I wanted. Northern Auto is a good first-time, one-stop-shop.
