: My Baby Blazer build-up post (4 U Pdaddy!)
yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:02 PM Ok, I dont have one of when it was stock, but I bought it off of Ebay, and brought it home from Jersey.
Backed it into the garage around the middle of December.
Pulled engine, trans and t-case. Had engine and trans rebuilt, re sealed t-case.
Bought 2 steer Rockwells, and ripped them apart.
Gutted all the IFS shit, and pulled rear axle.

yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:08 PM Then I started to figure out the 4 link and other Geometric :D shit.
BTW-Rockwells are a PIA to deal with.

HickTrucksRus 04-10-2005, 06:09 PM that paint is classic. what are you going to use for rolling stock?
yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:18 PM As usual, link placement was blowing my mind. But I made a few adjustments from the calculator, and ended up with about 106% AS. I may of made a mistake using 3/4x3/4" heims, but we shall see. Its a triangulted four link f/r with F150 coils.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181746&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181747&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181748&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181749&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181750&stc=1
yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:24 PM Wire brushing the CARC off of those axles SUCKED!!!! I spun and re-drilled the rear for center drop. Switched the knuckles on the front for a driver drop. The look pretty sexy with a little paint though!!
Tiers and wheels are 42 IROKS on Hummer beadlocks. I am still contemplating some 44's, but I really dont want it any wider (92"!!)
My back thanked me when these FAWKERS were finally slung under it for the final time!!http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181751&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181752&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181753&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181754&stc=1 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=181755&stc=1
yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:35 PM After I got both axles, links, springs etc together, I flattened the tires and pulled it out of the garage with the other S-10. After the son and i washed 4 months of garage dust off of it, THE NEXT THING I DID WAS REMOVE THE MULLET RACING STRIPES!!
I was going to just cut the front fenders but because I had placed the front axle so far forward, I couldnt cut them enough to make it look right. Therefore, I decided to remove them all together and just tube the front :cool2:
Off course, I also had to add the "making up for other shortcomings" huge stinger!! My wife thinks its "kewl".

jackedupjimmy 04-10-2005, 06:40 PM i like makes me want to rockwell my jimmy
yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:44 PM Check out my new Super Swamper t-shirt I got off of their website :smokin:
I kinda thought they should give it to me since I have spent UNHEARD OF $$$$ buying their out-o-round tires,,,,,,,,,Oh well, I love them anyways.
Anyway, I also added a 6-point cage. I know, I know, no Triangulation. I just wanted something to add support to body. I still need it kind of civilized.
Since the fenders are gone, I decided to put the battery in the back. I also removed the factory jack, and installed the pump for my RS 9000 in cab controller in its spot.
I was kinda hard bending the bars to kinda keep with the factory s-10 lines, but I think I did an OK job.

yield2me 04-10-2005, 06:56 PM I used some driving type lights, and wired the relay into the wires that used to go to the headlights. I still need to add something else for "high beams", but I will deal with that later. I have also been shopping around for some marker/turn signals.
My winch should be done this week, and I should also be getting my front ram from Station soon. then its off to get d-shafts, hyd hoses, and exhaust.
I also need to have MORE FAWKING tabs made to mount my front shocks and to re-enforce my axle link mounts.
BTW-the A/C is still hooked up for those hot days on the trial!!!
I applied to be in 4Wheel and Offroads Ultimate Adventure this year, but havent heard anything back.
Thats all for now....I hope you guys enjoy the pics.

blacksheep10 04-11-2005, 07:57 AM I hope it takes you as long to do pretty tube work as it does me. I like your old S-10 and your new one. That cage looks really good for leaving all the interior in there. Gonna cut the rear quarters?
Pdaddy 04-11-2005, 08:35 AM Nice work man.. damn its been ALONG time since the last pics good to see your getting close to finished!!!
HickTrucksRus 04-11-2005, 09:18 AM That front end looks real good. that thing is WIDE!!!!! are you going to do any more tube work on the exterior?
yield2me 04-11-2005, 03:48 PM I hope it takes you as long to do pretty tube work as it does me. I like your old S-10 and your new one. That cage looks really good for leaving all the interior in there. Gonna cut the rear quarters?
Takes a lot longer than I let on :D
Well, I had the interior GUTTED (even the headliner), so that made it pretty easy.
Since the only way I can steer it is to have my wife driving and me turning the tires by hand (takes about 15 minutes to turnit around), I wanted to have EVERYTHING possibly done in the front before I messed with the rear. thats why the rear quarters arent cut yet.
Thanks for the comments, I have been following your threads as well, It keeps me motivated!!!...I like them S-trucks!!!
Rob
yield2me 04-11-2005, 03:52 PM That front end looks real good. that thing is WIDE!!!!! are you going to do any more tube work on the exterior?
I may do some slider/steps, but my main focus is to get most of the major shit done for East Coast Blazer Bash the weekend after next.
It's a lot wider than I planned. I wanted to run Hubs out, wheel barkes with 7" of backspacing. Stupid fawking Daniel sent 5"...which is too narrow with the hubs in (hit my lower links in the front) or 92" wide like it is now. After I get back next spring, I am going to get some new rims and wheel brakes, but I need to do at least a little wheeling before I had back to the 'ghan.
Rob
sled_dog 04-11-2005, 06:16 PM wow thats wide. Pumpking smacker me think. Sounds like some Stazwork wheels are in order when you return. I still think the 3/4 heims are a mistake but you'll know better than me.
What a gay pic :flipoff2: like we wanna see your goofy ass pose :flipoff2:

I have heard nothing but bad shit about him too. USA6X6 won't ever get my $$.

 omfg let me tell you. all 4 wheels flopping around because of 2 steering axles and no steering. we have taken the current project out of the shop twice and it is a 100 foot off camber gravel hell road with crap on each side to get out of my shop. Me running back and forth trying to keep them all straight while ben (mindenoffroad on here) throws rocks at me with his 2wd s-10. Cluster from hell. anyway, smartened up this last time. backed the trailer all the way down the drive and up to the door so we could winch it right on the trailer.
I was wondering about your hubs being flipped out and no wheel brakes. glad your stuff is coming together fast. The current project is gone for a while and mine is in there getting some MUCH MUCH needed tlc after last summer with no maintenence except grease. in the u-joints. Holy crap this thing is beat up
So you let the wife drive the old one and you drive the new one when you are out or what? Feeding two rigs has to be expensive as hell.
How about at the end of the summer you meet pdaddy and me somewhere in bama or tn? it is only 12 hours for me :D

I would love to, but I will be back in Afghanistan like I was all last FAWKING summer :mad3: . Thats me sitting on the roof with my buddy on the 50 cal.
That was last June, and thats where I will prolly be this June...
I hate missing summer..
I am going to sell the other S-10 to a buddy of mine when we gat back. It is kinda $$$ to maintain 2 of these money pits.
We will def. have to get together sometime though...be a blast.

Rob
which part of the East Coast is this? in regards to the afgan action at least you get to rock the Hummers and kick ass!
yield2me 04-14-2005, 05:23 AM Its at Tellico next weekend.
LOL...Yeah, on one mission, the flash floods had washed out part of the road (that was on a cliff), so we had to take the river bed. Big rocks!! It was pretty cool Rockcrawling the hummers with our Afghan soldiers pulling security with AK-47's.
Rob
Pdaddy 04-14-2005, 09:08 AM Dude dont lie, we all know Military Humvees are a joke offroad. I was a mechanic in the Army and spent plenty of time fawkin up Humvees
Stay safe over there Bro!! :usa:

Yeah, I thought so too, but believe it or not they wheel pretty good...For what they are.
10000# combat loaded!
Ours are modified with TSL/SX's, winches, pul-pal's, snatch blocks, shackles, 6.5 Turbo Diesel's, Rock-sliders, and full skid plates. Gas it and it will slide over alot of shit. Brake/throttle modulation is key to keepin' em moving.
If course, it nothing like most of the trucks on here will do, but there is no enemy threat on the Rubicon, the Hammers, Tellico etc! :cool2:
Rob
yield2me 05-09-2005, 07:24 PM 5 months, 1 man, countless hours, and just under 10 grand later....
Wrenchedlike a mad man the week before ECBB and even at fuel stops and at the hotel parking lot in Murphy, but got it done.
We wheeled it 2 weekends a row with only stupid small problems--radiator hoses, bent cross member (which I should of replaced anyway  , and a big dent in the door courtesy of my wife and that big ass rock at Crawfords.
This past week it was on display at Hooters for their Bikini Contest, then at the shop. Sorry, no posing, bling ass tired pics :flipoff2:

Good looking job and build, but you should have left the swooshes on the side! Those were the tits! Maybe even add to them to make them more prominent? :flipoff2:
Seriously, good looking build and great work!
blacksheep10 05-10-2005, 01:45 PM what brand are those bumpstops on the front
:flipoff2:
Pdaddy 05-10-2005, 02:24 PM So what up, how do you like it, are you glad you went with a rig that size? Looks like its working good for you!
yield2me 05-10-2005, 03:42 PM WB 117.5"
Changes??--Prolly build a 4 seat buggy instead...since THATS what I really want. But, seriously, I wish it wasn't quite as tall. Not that its that tall, but I few inches would be nice. I also would of either bent the lower front links to clear more backspaced wheels, or just kept leafs on the front. I know that it really shouldn't matter, but I sux on the street. Mostly because of algniment issues, so I will work on that.
BumpStops?? I dont need no stinking bumpstops!! Thats what the oil pan and gas tank is for!! I was concerned about it bottoming out, but i have rs 9000's with the in cab controller, so I just pump it up to 9 and it wont hit anything.
I am glad i went with the size. I have a wife and 2 kids, so there is plenty of room for us all. Plus storage stuff.
Thanks for the comments guys, and its only after reading/studing/copying work from all of you here on Pirate, that I was able to build it.
Rob

youngladdy 05-10-2005, 10:10 PM Wow it didn't look like it was that long of a WB.
Thanks.
Hanr3 05-11-2005, 02:41 PM Nice job. I really like it.
Hows that engine and tranny working out with those axles and tires? Wishing you had more power?
blacksheep10 05-11-2005, 03:59 PM Yeild, looks good. bet it feels really good to have it rolling.

I can't believe your selling, but I understand your situation.
bsrobe2 05-14-2005, 12:34 AM after all that work your selling it  i hope you get what you want for it. and enjoy your trip in the desert. i am heading out in august.
BigWoodyWag 05-14-2005, 01:54 PM Rob-
I talked to Kelly last night, and you rock!!!!
I so wish I wasn't running all over the Midwest next week, I'd make the trip with him. I told him to take the biggest trailer, so he can get that crap from Bragg, and buy your blazer as well. I was laughing my ass off when he saw he won that thing and then he realized that it weighed 24,000lbs.
Wyatt
yield2me 05-15-2005, 06:20 PM  24000 #'s!! HOLY SHIT!!
Yeah, I still need to get back with Kelly about a scrap yard. I have been gone all weekend dropping the kids off in PA, so I will research that tommorrow. He def. needs to trim some fat off of that thing.
I am wanting a Dan Dibble-ish buggy, but if it doesnt sell, of well. I will keep her.
