: How much HP on YOUR 8.8?

K I have read the countless threads about how to install one, where to get it etc. But I have never heard anyone talk about the longevity of this axle. Only "It's much stronger than the 35, and on par with the 44"

My plans are to first run an 8.8 in the rear with 33's and 4.10 gears. And then stroke the 4.0 out to ~4.7. I figure it will be good for around 260 - 270 hp at the crank. This will most likely cause me to be heavy on the stupid pedal (no rocks in Michigan :) )

I'll figure out something for the front axle later, but will the 8.8 handle my lead foot, more HP, and 33's? Or should I be looking for an axle else where?

From what I have seen the 8.8 is a very stout rear end. H8MONDAY off this board had on in the rear of his ride with a Mustang Cobra 5.0/stick/atlas and he finally broke it after a long time. He is very liberal with the happy pedal too.
