Sorry guys if you dont allow this in the ford section but.. I picked up a '78 F250 today. Any idea what tranny/tcase it has? Its not divorced. Its a 4 speed trans. Supposed to be a 351 engine. All I want are the axles, driveshafts, tranny, and t-case. The rest goes to whoever wants it. But, you have to take the whole thing. Yes it had a Dana 60 front and rear, BUT THERE MINE. No title. Anything after 85 in my state doesnt require one. Located in Marlborough, CT. Bring a flat bed. email me if interested. foxfab@comcast.net

bed has hydraulic dump too. Unknown condition of all.

the set up in my 79 f150, and sounds like yours is the same. are you sure it is not a 400m in there, not 351? buddy just stripped one (78) and it was a 400m, and had the 60 front.

351m and 400 m where the only options as far as 4wd's went. The 60 front came with both engines, and the tranny woudl be a np435 mated to a np205.

I ran the vin and the decoder said 351, but the owner said it was a 400. I have no ambition to find out since I have no use for it. someone take it away! :D It did turn over.

You say it is a '78, and it appears to have the Snowfighter D60 front axle,
BUT,.... it has round headlights:question: :confused:

78 & 79, Ford used square headlights and the big wrap around hood. 80 used square headlights and the smaller hood. 77 and earlier used round headlights and the big wrap around hood. Snowfighter D60 package was introduced in 78 on F250s, F350s in 79.
Maybe somebody in the last 27 years swapped out the front trim.

78's and 79's came with round and square lights. The sqaure lights just dictates a higher package (ie. xlt) the trucks with round lights were a custom I belive :cool2:

hey, foxfab....getting the most out of the trailer! I was the one who sold you the 4runner/turbo engine/tires. I will ask around for that Ford. There are a few guys around this part of CT who have fords.
