I'm about to put 38x14.50 on my TJ next week and need to find out how much trimming you did and where you cut.
Also what lift and height.

Thanks.

How do expect a reply when you don't even list the amount of lift you have  :flipoff2:

Kind of picky, aren't we? :flipoff2:

RE 5.5" and 1" bodylift.

Thanks.

I've got 6" of suspension lift and 3" of body lift, flat-fendered the front, and still rub the 37" SSR's at full flex. Wait.... did I say rub? I meant that I still bend the fenders up with the tires! :D :D

you need a good 8 inches of lift for 38s on a tj, if you are going to trim, how much? you can cut straight up into the body, ditching the flares and fenders completely in front, cutting all the way into the hood for up travel. i have a buddy who had to go to 10 inches of lift, 2 in the spacers, 8 in the springs to fit his 38s on his tj after he added heavier bumpers and a spare 38.

5.5" and some trimming and lowered stops in the front...

33" TSLs, 4" Superlift coils, 1" BL, cut under the hoodline (requires new hood supports)

I didn't do it as much for tire clearance (which is an obvious bonus), as I did it to get rid of the fenders as they were so mangled it was a pain to deal with them. At full stuff with the tires straight, I have about 3-4" of clearance between the body and the hood. Should give a little bit of an idea.

if ya have to ask....:flipoff2:
don't be scared, just start wackin', wheel, then wack wherever there's a rub mark....

There really isn't that much cutting you can do if you want to retain the stock appearance with the flares and all. The TJ wheel wells are already huge. You'll just need to get longer bumpstops.

If your really serious about trimming...for what it is worth I ran my old 39.5 boggers with the equivelant of about 5" suspension and 2" body...(which was the same amount as I used to run with my old 35's)...it did wonders for stability. Im running my 42's with equivelant of about 6" suspension and 2" body I think, hard to tell.

Thanks guys.

Little to none is a good answer. I'm running RE's Donkey Dick Bumpstops up front and don't mind a little trimmings, so I'm good.

Thanks.

Seth,

Take out the inner fenders and trim the front edge of the rear fenders 1" change your bump stops and your good as long as you have the right offset wheels.

2" body lift, 8" suspension. No rubbing on the front. The backs rub on the warn fender flares some.

I just put the tires on and 4" of extra lift. Tomorrow is the real test. I maybe doing some major trimming sunday. :D

You guys running these tires...what is your wheelbase, gear ratio and motor setup?

thanks.
