: Man a Fre shocking customer service

Jan 8 placed an order for a fuel tank- out of stock- they say it will be in feb 1. on the next ship from australia.

Feb. i call to see if its hit the docks at customs as they said. They blame australia for it missing the ship and assure me that it will be on the next ship due to arrive on the 20th of feb.

I call today to see if they have it or its at the docks........and they say that its on order and that it is now scheduled to hit the docks from australia on March 25th.

The sales rep then went thru his records and let on to me that my 55 tank was the only one on order and that it is coming in with a whole load of 40 55 and 60 tanks on march 25th................sounds to me like it wasnt worth the business to get it shipped earlier and that they had to wait until they had a whole container of tanks to make it worth their while.

So for all those out there thinking of ordering from MAN A FRE- i guess lesson learned by me- that they seem to be predisposed to stringing customers along with bogus arrival dates or lack of ordering until its worth their while.

Had i been told initially on Jan 8th that it wouldnt be in until March 20th-- i probably would have swam to australia and back with a tank or maybe even had one built here in the good ol USA like i should have from the get go.
:mad3:

I guess its a little ironic that this is my 100th post and that thanks to MAN A FRE my jaded status as a newbie culminates with the sour taste of this type of customer service. Its companies like these who's care for their own wallet and lack of care for the Cruiserhead really make ownership a test of patience and perserverence.

OHHHH forgot to ask if anyones got a spare 55 tank laying around that isnt rusted and spewing rust into the carb like mine is. The rigs been down since Jan 1 waiting on these charletans.

Also does anyone have any guesses how far an FJ55 at 65mph will go thru your average office entryway and moderately reinforced brick wall????

I don't have a spare one, but my local radiator shop boiled out my rusted tank, brazed 4 patches on the bottom to fix the holes, coated the inside with epoxy tank liner and painted the outside. It took 24 hours and $50. Most radiator shops also do gas tanks.

No big surprise from MAF. Been there done that, although it was with headers... When you run a business strictly for the bottom line($$$) with little regard for customer service or future sales this is what happens. If you have had bad luck with them, DONT GO BACK. We can bitch all we like but if we repeat our mistakes, therefore encouraging poor business practice, the offending outfit will likely continue operating without regard for individual customer service as they are happily keeping out of the red...

I just submitted a complaint thru the better business bureau on them.

For anyone else with bad experiences with these charletans, i urge them to file a complaint online for fellow pig owners......took about 5 minutes to do

Yea.....they skrewed me on an order too.

They shipped the item, and it was missing a bunch of critical peices. I wanted them to overnight the parts that were missing, and they refused.

SO.....who shouild I give my business to now?

Trust me it's worse when you go in there in person. They have 2 speeds, on and moron.:D Call Spectre, you may pay more but they know they're stuff and they're always straight with you. Man it ain't free hasn't been the same since they lost most of their original sales staff.

MAF does have good prices on a lot of what they sell. You just have to remember the golden rule of MAF ordering. If it ain't in stock you ain't buyin' it.

I'm with Ken...

IF...You order from Man a Fre...

Make the salesman tell you he is HOLDING THE PART IN HIS HAND before you buy it!

I got screwed by them about 10 years ago and WILL NOT EVER buy from them again.

Make your own choices, but, many people hate MAF...

Hell, when I read the "Man a Fre shocking customer service" title, I thought it was going to be a story about them giving you GOOD service:rolleyes: MAF totally focked me over more than once (fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me) and then acted like shit being wrong was my fault. I wouldnt buy a thing from the assholes again. I had heard that they were under new management. Apparently not New enough. Assholes:mad3: they suck. As far as the shit they sell, it isnt anything you cant find anywhere else, usually for less. FOCK MAF:flipoff:

And if you want me to tell you how I REALLY feel about them, drop me a PM and I will tell you :flipoff2:

Rick.

Just mount a 23 gallon Ford Box Van tank in the 55 like mine had done by the PO! works like a charm!

Fawk 23 gallons- i was going for their 49 gallon long ranger.....but the arseholez now forced me to call up Aero tanks. I think under the rear it will be 53gallons with a 22 gallon aux near the driveshaft once i yank the evap stuff for 100 bucks more than MAF.

75gallons of fuel will weigh- 450lbs
range on a full tank of gas.................1725 miles or

69 days roundtrips to work.................

= fill up today--------------> and then not again until mid June.

Now thats what i call Cruisin.
