Can anybody tell me what drill bit I need to make a pilot hole for a 7/8 tap? Bought a 7/8-18 tap to make a draglink and tierod ,but I want to test in on scrap and make sure it works with my TRE's before I buy tubing. Thanks for any help.

A 7/8-14 (fine thread) tap drill will be a 13/16" bit.

A 7/8-9 (coarse thread) tap drill will be a 49/64" bit.

Yes, a 53/64" drill is what you want to use.
