New trailer coming soon and need to know if when I haul my truck should the trans be in gear or neutral with e brake on? I thought I read something on this before but cant find anything on it searching. 83 Toy 5 spd .dual cases (stock and 4.7) and 4.88's

I find leaving my zuk in gear, it moves less - not that it's moving much at all.

My loading routine is get it on the trailer, strap the rear, strap the front, pop it into neutral, tighten everything down, place back in gear.

I don't worry about the trucks with manuals in them. The neutral idea is good before you tighten the chains/straps. The ones I worry about are the autos. To much pull on the park paul will cause some problems. I usually put the auto trans truck on the trailer and then tighten the chain on the uphill side first ie, if the front of the trailer is higher then I pull the truck up hill to unload the park paul then pull the chain tight rearwards, being careful not to pull the truck very far.

After the chains/straps are tight, the truck should/will not move back and forth-side to side, if tied correctly. Another thing to think about, and form an opinion on is tying down the axels or the frame. I chain the axels down, this lets the truck suspension do its thing. Some guys like to pull the frame down, but this can be difficult, because you need to pull it so far so the truck will not bounce and slap the chain. I used to haul large tractors with big soft tires and it was VERY difficult to get them to stay put. I would not put that kind of strain on the frame of my truck on the trailer. That is just my $.02 though. Opinions very greatly on that subject.

I usually lock the front hubs, put it in high range, and trans in reverse. But I also chain the axles and the frame- it keeps everything buttoned down nice and tight...

Once I get the rig on the trailer, I put it in neutral, tighten my tie downs in the front and rear. When I get it tight, I put the rig into gear again. I have a manual transmission. Hope that helps

I plan on tying down from the axles and cranking the 9000's up to help keep it from bouncing around to much. I was just wondering about strain on the drivetrain, Ithink I got what I was looking for thanks. Oh and Ryan :flipoff2:
