Hey all

Went over to Paul Decker's today, and he hooked me up on these killer steps / sliders for my 40.

This is based on a design first created by Butch Lewis. Paul had been working with Butch to refine these. I always liked Butch's, and these are an improvement over the original design.

These also double as air tanks.

Driver side, long shot...

Underside Rollbar mount (kinda blury). Note the attachment points

Nice work....
I'm glad Paul is making them, those would look good on my truck. Do the rockers get trimmed?

Last shot... this is the A pillar mount, that extends to the floor. Yeah, the floor is a little dirty/rusty

Paul has these ready to go, and has "jigged" these up, so that they can be made with repeatable quality. The step is nice, definitely helps to get in / out.

Paul's Number is 707.778.6429

Yeah, Mudrak had already trimmed them, just need to take about a 1/4 inch off (more than they were).

It brings them almost all the way up to the bottom of the floor.

There is a 3rd mount, inside the rear wheel well, forgot to take that picture.

look classy. how much did they run you? curious, how much air can they hold relative to

Paul said $1500 a pair... Yes, a bit pricey, but you should see the amount of time that goes into them...

THe tubing is 3 x 5, 1/4 thick... so inside dimension is 2.5 X 4.5, and the length is 43"c= ~480 cu inches or ~.28 cu ft. times two sliders... so ~960 cu inches or about .56 cu ft.

Not sure how that compares, but for on board air systems (York), I would imagine that it would be a nice buffer. I'm sure there are many more qualified than I who would know.

The tube actaully follows the contour of the tub, as does the mounting flange.

Look pretty nice. I met him last winter when we picked up the 3 45s from his collection and was very impressed with his shop and all his sweet Cruisers. I must say 1500$ for sliders is kinda insane.

Aye-yie-yie! I would love to give Paul the business, and I am grateful to see the Butch legacy carried on, but that is way outside of my budget. I need some sliders in a big way before I crunch anymore of my side panels.

re: cost...

I looked around, and something "simple" like Slee's for the FJ80's are still 800-900 uninstalled... I'm sure that a simpler design for the 40 can be done for less...

Jer - I can make you a heck of a deal on my old rocker protectors... They are only "slightly" dented :)

Vera nice! Paul does quality work. You obviously used your camera phone to take the pics :( Pity, they do not show caliber/detail of the sliders. Looks like you are all set for da Hammers :) Got time for an Orion install :grinpimp:

i've got a couple extra sets of sliders if anyone needs them before rubithon............

one set requires trimming and the other uses stock holes.

Butch quoted me $750 for a pair at the PMC swapmeet last summer. Perhaps the cost got mixed up between pairs and eaches? $1500 is insane for sliders, but they are a really nice product

Those are killer! Even so, $80 in steel and a few hours I'll have protection and enough money left over buy a PowerTank for each tire including the spare:)

What type of sliders? I'm close so maybe I could swing by and take a look before I go to the trouble myself. I plan on trimming regardless.

i have seen the sliders and the quality of work paul puts out. it's top notch. bar none!!!

i'm also very happy to see butch's legacy carried on. is paul still going to incorporate the high lift mount or has that part of the design gone by the wayside?
lotsa work to make a set of these babies.
