I have a chevy/gm 6 lug 44, what year did gm switch from 44 to 10bolt? I'm suppose to have a 44 out of a GM....

next question is for steering... I have a stabilizer hole on the TR on the drivers side. I want to go to a inverted T setup, so could I flip that TR so it sets on top of my hysteer arms and hook the drag into the stabilizer hole? I know most people use the TRE out of a 85 or so blazer.....

They were supposed to have switched to the 10 bolt in 1978. I have seen a 1979 with a 44 from the factory. My brother has 2 1980's one with a 10 bolt and one with a 44.

I have heard that the TRE is too weak to handle the steering forces once you enlarge it to accept the end for the draglink.

Is the other TRE really that much stronger?
