I know nobody here secretly visits JU so you probably don't know, there's a link for free carfax reports through tomorrow:
http://www.nbc4.com/consumer/1247740/detail.html
BTW, you're supposed to like it so much that you buy the second one, of course. If you have more than one to run BE CAREFUL not to accidentally delete the cookie after you run the first one, cuz then the second one will be free too and I know you wouldn't want to cheat like that.

Carfax is very inaccurate and general. It gives folks a false sence of security.:(
just curious on how its inaccurate? I got a pretty detailed history on my rigs...

I think he means they leave out a bunch of stuff. For example, mine has been stolen once since I've had it and the bed shows signs of having been rear-ended once pretty good, but the carfax comes back clean. I think its useful info and worth checking, but just because its clean doesn't mean nothing has ever happened. That site explains pretty well where they get their info so you can see what kind of stuff might be omitted.

Carfax is great if you use it right. You must remember that if your vehicle/future vehicle was ever in a wreck, carfax won't know unless it was reported. It is nice to make sure that the vehicle you are about to buy has a clean title...also, read the fine print on their $5k warranty.
BTW, when looking for our new truck, I ordered their service. I've found a truck, and I still have until mid-April to run free reports if anyone wants one...just shoot me an email (creecer@yahoo.com)
i just checked my two trucks...
1998 Tacoma, kinda inaccurate, I have owned it the whole time. One wreck, reported...not on carfax. It was really just a fender bender though...
My 1983 truck (dosent exist now, put axles and other goodies onto another cab and chassis). Kinda funny history there though. I knew it had been wrecked, frame broken in two places when I got it...
Anyway, turns out it has had a salvagesd tittle THREE TIMES!!! That probably means that it was TOTALLED THREE TIMES!!! The first one beein in 1987 with 103K on the damn thing!!! That is some drivin!!! Put 103K on it 4 years!!!
Wow.
kinda neat. I dont really care about the old truck though...

Whoa...looks like I am only the second owner :D Weird.
I should send them a picture of what the Jeep looks like now, along with a copy of that 5k guarantee :flipoff2: Oh, and a copy of the report from when I slammed it into a brand new Lexus GS400 last year.
Well one of my 4runners check out good and the other highlites a odo rollback....89k!! hope thats wrong...did not state where though but it was checked on 11-08-95 as 200.879 and 3 days later it was reported as 111.734!! my odo now shows 198k..it could be a newer speedo was put into it??? hell no matter it was all rebuilt (drivetrain) when I got it and I dropped a new engine in it a while back....the engine that I took out did show excessive wear..all bearings into the copper core....so 200k would be on...oh well :D
