Well I just got my new Wilson 6' Silver load antenna. I mounted it right above the left tail light between the cap and bed. I hook it up to the CB and nothing. I mean, the needle doesn't move for Transmitting or receiving. No static. nothing. One time i heard a voice. But very quick then nothing.

I have the antenna grounded very well. No cuts in my coax. What could it be?

Yes, I know. I didn't tune it with the SWR meter yet. But come on. I should be getting something.

The rf meter dont move? If you know the radio worked before you hooked up the new antenna, you could have a short in the coax. Use an ohm meter and check from core to shield for a short.

If the mike is pooched, the meter won't move. Match your antenna first though and see what happens.

is your cb still getting power? sounds almost like it overloaded and popped a fuse or something

Do you have a new (so-239) connector on your mount? You might wanna try a run a ground from the mount bolt to the frame-see if you get any recieve. take a ohm meter and check your coax for a "pinch" or "short" at the connector (90 degree turn maybe)? If that model has a little ground wire attached to the bottom of the Antenna put it on 1 of the bolts of your mount. As for the "tuning" the Wilson usually comes set from the factory "Ready to go"....let me know what you find.......tim...."Communication Repair Shop Owner";) :D

Tim,
Thanks for the information. The mount is new for a FireStick. It is the FireSTick flat mount. One bolt to the body (bed rail) straight Stainless steel to the full mounting fixture. Came ready for the screw in coax that I have. It has the mounting hardware and bushings and all from the factory.

The Wilson Silver Load antenna is a tunable antenna that allows for the little metal piece on top to be pulled in and out. The Coax has no chips or nicks in it.
