So, brake light switch failed a couple of weeks ago. Again. Finally got to do some investigating this weekend. The switch is actually two switched if you open it up. one is activated sooner in the plunger stroke than the other. Nothing appeared out of place. Testing for continuity, the following results were obtained. Looking at the switch like this --> ( 1 2 3 4 ] I found continuity between pins 1 and 2 and between pins 3 and four. However, the manual shows the wired to 1 and 2 as both 12v. 1 is ABS 12v which is now disconnected. 2 still has power. I forget what 3 is at the moment, but 4 is brake lights and the park safety solinoid. So, how the hell would the switch work? and why would they connect two power sources together? Also, the wiring diagram shows 2 as a green wire, while on my truck, is it green and white or gray.
I am no good with wiring, but it looks like my switch is fine, and my wiring is the way it is supposed to be, but the two just aren't compatible. Which doesn't make any sense. wtf?
