: pitman arm
Rockrat 02-23-2002, 06:05 PM alright got the toy box on the frame question is how to adapt
it to my Breeze crossover has anybody cut and welded 2 pitman arms together before I no this might not be paliticly correct but
projects coming close to an end I'm broke so i thought possibly
Hybrid the to pitman arms together what do you guys think:confused:
slozook 02-23-2002, 06:22 PM pull the pitman arm off and send it out to have it redone professionally.... a professional can do the end right so it'll accept that crossover like it's supposed to... much safer and stronger..
Rockrat 02-23-2002, 07:08 PM well the problem with that is one the toy IFS pitman has a fairly large drop and being mounted on the outside of the frame it could easly bind on the spring at full compression so it needs
to be straighter and closer to the frame eventually the truck will get high steer and heim joints but for now this looks to be a quick fix mind you its a trailer queen and never driven on the road.
and I have both arms to cut and weld no money spent. just cureous if anybodys done this.
v6toy4x 02-23-2002, 08:53 PM finished cross over on toyota this last week had the same thought that the pitman arm needs to be flatter but then i just tapered it to take the drag link from the top the key is there needs to be enough room between the spring and frame to fit the tie rod end so if you put it on top and get it as close to the frame as you can you have the same clearance as if you got a straight pit arm and put the draglink on the bottom
just a thought it worked for me no loss of up travel it is tight though
Rockrat 02-23-2002, 09:53 PM I'll definatly look at that idea, to bad ya just cant heat the fawker and bend it where you want:D
fatkid 02-25-2002, 08:34 PM Here is a pic of some of the arms we make.:)
fatkid 02-25-2002, 08:35 PM Steering is one area where you might not want to get cheap on. Take the time to do it right.
Rockrat 02-25-2002, 08:48 PM Hey F/K what do you charge for an arm like that ? from the pic you posted is it the angle or did you inset that box onto the frame a little also what kind of ujoint setup is that before your rag joint I didn't get the end with my box so I still have to adapt it to the sami steering shaft
fatkid 02-25-2002, 09:28 PM For the connection from the box to the steering shaft, we used the Toy U-Joints and Toy rag joint. All you have to do is cut the shaft off the Toy set up and weld the the shaft from the Zuk set up to it. Do you follow me? As for the Box it's sitting almost flat on the frame. :)
nuttzack 02-26-2002, 02:59 AM That looks good! I am gonna go get my IFS setup sometime this week when I find time. I am getting the entire setup for 100 bucks. I figured it was a pretty good price. Hey fatkid, what kind of rod ends are you running?
Rockrat 02-26-2002, 04:47 AM Crystal clear what about cost on the arm:question:
TNToy 02-26-2002, 10:12 AM Here's a pic of a stock IFS Toy pitman... bad angle to see the drop. (BTW: this is the one I got from Kongs - the welds are for the new insert to match my Chevy TRE's)
TNToy 02-26-2002, 10:14 AM Better pic of a stock IFS Toy arm:

Not sure, who makes them. I can tell you that there 3/4-16 Chromoly with teflon races, and they cost around $45 a piece. I'll get you some info if you'ed like...:)
nuttzack 02-28-2002, 01:37 AM Thanks for the offer, but 45$ a piece for me is a little steep. I know it is beef and all, but I will stick with my 26$ ones for right now, that is until I start breaking them;)
fatkid 02-28-2002, 07:42 AM I hear that, there are a few rod ends out there that you can buy for under $20 that work great! But we have a surplus of these so were using them up as fast as we can, the only problem is they don't wear out very fast.:D
moto261 02-28-2002, 12:30 PM when i did mine i just heated it up and bent it then i cut the end off it and drilled it and used a 5/8 hime worked out slick
