Finally got my set of OEM soft doors and hinges... picked them up an hour ago.

They are going to need some work, but everything seems to be there.

Question #1 - Outside w/s available?
Question #2 - Plexiglass window, anyone have a good source, or get one cut locally?

Question #3 - Attatching canvas, preferred method?

Anyone have some photos of their completed doors? I want to make sure I have all the parts handy.

Pics of mine comming soon ;)

Q1-2. You probably already saw the other thread about this.

Q3. There is a metal strip at the top that has tabs that insert into the frame. The little F@#%ing tabs tend to break off, so go easy on bending them. They are a PITA to weld back on. Fold the top of the canvas back over the strip and glue it with 3M contact cement (the type that is flammable and is used for laminate tops). The tabs stick through the canvas, so you need to slit it. Put contact cement on the bottom and side rails and on the canvas where it meets the rails and wait until it dries. Put a layer of wax paper in between the rails and canvas so it won't stick until you want it to. It doesn't come off easy. If you have vinyl, heat the material so it will stretch with a hair dryer. Start at the center of the bottom and remove the wax paper at this point. Stretch the canvas tight and then stick it to the rail. Work outward and upward on both sides stretching the material and sticking it. Then install the weather strip channels and trim the excess material. Note that the weather strip is sided and can go in the wrong way. I learned this the hard way. Grrr. The flatter side goes out.

What does the window slider mechanism look like? I'm curious if it's the same as the one on my fj25 hard door.

just a little tab on the bottom of the plexi glass, looks pretty much like the part on a hard door glass

Kurt, yes the outer WS is availble(same part # either side), all but the vent window rubber. I posted the part #'s last week

I looked into getting glass made for the corner and windows but it was just too costly. I doubt glass would stay up on the window anyway. I had plexi cut for the windows It was just too cheap not to and I could replace it every year if needed.

So I have all the W/S coming as per Landpimps part #'s (thanks Pimp :D)...

A couple other dilemas...

Some of the w/s track (that unscrews from the door itself) is rusted badly near the bottoms of the doors... Anything that can be done? Anyone find a commond source of a channel having similar dimensions? I can make the radius, etc...

The channel is a tuff one. I had a set of doors that had rusted bottom channels. I searched high and low to no avail. Since then I was able to replace that set with a pair that appeared nearly new.

You may keep your eyes open for a lone door or a cheap rusted pair that the channel could be scavanged from. Check with Pin Head as he had/has a similar set of doors, as I recall he had not found a solution yet.

Yes, the bottom W/S retainer channel is often rusted out and is hard to find. Bending up a straight piece of channel from 20 ga sheet wouldn't be to hard, but bending it around the corners would be a biatch. The best solution I could think of would be to make a straight piece of channel and make cuts every inch in the curved section so that it could bend w/o collapsing. A half inch curtain rod is mighty close to being the right dimensions, but you would have to squeeze it closed a bit.

It's not my problem now as I sold the set of doors to a guy in our club.

That was the solution to the set I originally had to. :D
