Im trying to convert a 4.2 head over to a 4.0 head on my 85 cj 7. Im using a new exhaust manifold and valve cover but my intake manifold wont fit. On all the websites i found about this conversion they said nothing about my original intake manifold not fitting. Has anyone done any type of conversion like this and had any problem like mine?

Are you trying to use the stock carberated manifold?

that's because people advise on stuff they don't know about. The intake dowel holes are different. you gotta drill new ones. Use the 4.0 intake gasket as an example.

Yeah im using the stock 4.2 manifold right now, i eventually made it fit by cutting the holes on the manifold where they it slides into the head. After that, i simply moved the manifold up a bit to cover the intake ports on the 4.0 head.
