i am a jeep guy so i don't know much about toyota. will a G52 swap in place of a W56. going in to a 85. are the lengths and splines the same? I know the w56 is stronger but i have the G52 sitting around and no $$$ to get the W56 rebuilt.

Yes. It will..


But there are a couple different w56s.. Forward shifts and top- shift.

But both can go in place of a g52.


I had a g52 in place of my w56.

just keep in mind that if you're swapping in a forward shift W56, you'll have to put the late style('89-95) forward shift rails into your G52 t-case or convert it to top shift. they're shorter than the G52 rails and won't work in the W56.
