I just picked up a chevy version of the NV4500. I am building a rock buggy with a YJ frame and am seeking some information about driveline angles adapters, best tranfercase, etc. I am running a Ford HP Dana 44 up front (drivers side drop) and a Coporate 14 in the rear. I am doing a 4-link/quarter elliptic in the rear. Spring over up front. I know I need to possible change the output shaft to a dodge depending on which transfer case I get. I also have access to the orginal NP241 that came with the NV4500. Can I switch to a Chevy NP231 and use jeep parts on it (i.e. tail shaft short kit, 4:1)? The motor I'm using is a 4.3L chevy. Any ideas, thoughts, etc would help. Part numbers are also helpful, especially on the adapters. I've already called AA, but would appreciate help from this board (the best one out there).

There is a HD shaft SYE available for the 241 http://www.jbconversions.com/pages/np241/index.html but I have never heard of a 4:1 for it.
Retaining the 241 would definitely be the cheapest route. You would not need any tcase adapter. Not sure on the length comparison between a 231 and a 241 though.
Also, what is the input spline count of a 231 C (chevy)? If you are changing the mainshaft, I don't see any advantage to the Chevy 231.
As for the BH, there are two options, use a stock GM BH ( this has the slave down low on the passenger side) or use the AA produced one. The AA unit has provisions for an external slave (from an 80-83 Iron Duke CJ ) on the driver's side of the BH, it will bolt on.
What year NV4500 is it? Was it originally an internal hydraulic or external slave?
