Thank you TJoop for posting those pictures.
That is Down East Offroads new completely bolt on high-steer kit. It comes with everything you see painted there and only requires you have 4" of lift. The knuckles are production spicer parts with custom machine work.

How do you get a hold of Down East Offroads? A friend is looking for something like this for his Scout.

Thanks!

Looks like WJ knuckles to me. Id guess the right one is a standard WJ unit, while the left one is for right hand drive models.

does the kit come in black?

It would clash with my purple axle housing and lime-green frame

This will be a hot item... I don't know how many times I hear this topic discussed "How do I get high steer on my D30?"

That is my bet too.

I wonder why the machine work didn't include spindle studs?

I got X too
and the links don't work either.

Since I can't see the pics. Could I use my stock TRE's since mine are all brand new and they are sitting on the shelf ready to go on my D30 that is sitting on the floor with no knuckles on it yet.

Thier site sucks as far as looking at the pics. Crap, can't see much 'cause they are tiny pics, and can't see all of the pic 'cause of the way the site is 1/2 cut off.

There is nothing new about that kit. Dan McKeag (burnsvilleoffroad.com) has been selling basically the same kit he designed for 2 years now, using the WJ knuckles.

if you need enough lift to need hi-steer...

you don't need a D30 anymore.

THAT SET UP IS NICE BUT A LITTLE TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A DANA-30. I WAS TALKING TO CASEY AT WAGONER MACHINE SHOP AND HE SAID MARK IS PROTOTYPEING A HI STEER FOR A D30. CASEY SAID HE WOULD BE INTERESTED TO SEE HOW MUCH OF A DEMAND THERE IS FOR THIS SET UP. THE MORE DEMAND THE SOONER IT WILL HAPPEN, SO GIVE CASEY A CALL @ (918)341-1722. LET HIM KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT HIM BY E MAIL AT WWW.WAGONERMACHINE.COM

The Dana 30 is not a weak axle for its size but I can't see myself throwing that kind of money when its so much easier to histeer a 44 with more benefits. There's not a huge difference in the size of the pumpkins anyhow. Personally I think the kit is badass but not worth spending money on crap thats not worth it. I think the less custom bolt-on crap you throw on your rig and the more common everybody carries it parts you can do the better. Lets say you break one of those custom knuckles on that D30 its going to take a lot of bullshit to get you off the trail. Let's say you break a 44 front on the trail your likely to find someone or a local shop to get you the part quick. Possibly even on the trail. Just my .02

Those aren't custom knuckles and the stockers would work for spares only the driver's side knuckle and the spacers would be hard to find.

just some curious observations/questions:

1. do you go back to the stock pitman arm?
2. how do you connect the stabilizer bar, would a new bracket on the axle side be necessary and where?
3. it already looks like the track bar is binding at the axle side bracket in an idle position, what happens to that bracket under compression? or does it or the tb need a redesign?

800 pennies is too much for me, i will wait to see if the competition drives the price down..

interesting though,

ken

The $$ question leans toward upgrading the Dana 30 if you have already been running an expensive locker to go in it such as an ARB or Ox locker. Then IMHO it's more logical to do upgrades to the D30, but know the limits. Like 37's are pushing it, but with CTM and 35's ur close to bullet proof? With a High Pinion 30 then bigger than 35's are ok but more than 37's is pushing it?
