ive got a mobile home frame ill be converting to goosneck and adding a 3rd axle to. planned deck length at this point is 32 feet.
its going to be a deckover, with no dovetail. it sits kinda high,so the top of the deck will prolly be close to 36 inches.
if it matters,we will be towing it further distances with an f250,and on it will be riding a tube chassis, and a FSJ trail buggy, both with heavy 1 ton drivetrains.
i know with a gooseneck that tongue weight is not nearly as important as it is with a standard hitch,so my question is where do i want to locate the axles?
ive done quite a bit of searching and not run across this info yet.
thanx for any tips...

Friend of mine bought a 32' goose, and his axles are centered about at the 60% point.
IIRC, his was a 32' bumper pull design that the factory converted to be a goose.
His F350 didn't squat hardly at all with my Cummins on the trailer.. nosed up as far as I could go...

NO! You can't be showing a picture of the Ford pulling the Dodge! :flipoff2:

pin to center of axles is 2/3 of total pin to rear length. (so if three axles center of middle axle, if two axle from in btween the center of both axles)
Seem to recall that being the dimmensions / ratios when i drew up my last one that we built

Guys, guys, relax..
First of all, that's the only time that Ford is in front of my Dodge... Second (and more importantly), let's see how HIS transmission is doing at 230,000 miles.. I'm sure I'll be returning the favor.
Besides, if ATS didn't let shit transmissions out their doors, I wouldn't have been on that trailer in the first place. :D

by "pin" do you mean the coupler? I.E. if i add 8 feet for the gooseneck, and the overall length is 40 feet, then the center of the middle axle should be roughly 26.66 from the gooseneck coupler,or 13.33 feet from the rear of the trailer.
am i interpreting this correctly? if so,thats exactly the info i needed. :)

yeah from the center of the coupler.
thats sounds about right. at 32' you probably would get better balance with 3 axles. but doubt you need them. you're interpretting at least how i see it right.
If i remember right ... granted i am no engineer
your dimensions would be at 39' granted i know your 40' but 13' back from the coupler would be the 6' mark from the gooseneck on your deck. 26' back would be the center spring hanger for the rear axles and 39' from pin would be the rear bumper.
That puts the load center about 6' back on the deck from the gooseneck. so everything forward of that 6' on the deck is distributed directly onto the truck everything behind that 6' mark, loads onto the trailer axles. roughly.... you'll have about 10' - 12' overhang behind the rear axle and tire i dont see that being a problem i think mine was 7' from the tire, 9' from the center of the rear axle. that extra 3' will swing a little more on corners but shouldnt be too much of an issue.
Thats how i would do it. hope that helps
