I dont know if this belongs in here or not. I cant figure out what a Transbrake is, i know they are along the same line as a line lock, i think. But are for your tranmission. Can anyone enlighten me?

they are a valvebody that is modified so that when it is engaged electronically it puts the tranny in first and reverse at the same time, and locks the tranny. they tend to put a lot of heat into the tranny though, since the tranny is locked solid, and the revs are usually being brought up on the motor to prepare for a launch...

What keeps you from rolling though? Just you keeping your foot on the brake? Does that affext your rear brakes then? Why wouldnt you just run a line lock instead of this?

your tranny is in 1st and reverse so its all bound up and you aint rolling anywhere. It allows you to build the RPM up in your auto and instantly go into 1st gear when you let go of the button. If you just relied on a line lock and tried to get the RPM up you would be limited to what RPM you could go to before your back tires started spinning.

It hasnoting to do with the brakes at your wheels, it is internal to a auto trans. It is a valve body that has had the manual valve modified with a solinoid to electronicly lock the trans into 1st and rev at the same time as stated above. All it does is alow you to really stall up on the converter at the line with no worries of over powering the brakes. Then when you are ready to watch let go of the button and hold on. Plus by stalling the converter up taht much you shock the tires harder and they bite a little better.

It does not effect the brakes and probably has no place on a trail rig but man are they fun in a hot rod!
