OK here's the deal, I know I'm a newbie as far as posting but I've been lurking for a long while so I know the rules.........I searched.

My brakes basically suck. They sucked when I had 31's and they suck now with the 33 swamper tsl's. I had my axles out to regear them and rebled the brakes after reinstalling them. I just can't seem to get them right. I've tried gravity bleeding, vacuum bleeding and the old pump and shoot. I'm done trying. So where I stand now is that I'm swapping in a disc 8.8 within the next two weeks so I want to upgrade the braking system while I'm at it. I know from searching that the stock system works for a lot of guys, but it just don't seem to be working for me so I want to ditch almost everything and basically start from scratch. I want to run lines straight from the master to the fronts to eliminate the comb/prop valve and run lines from the master to the rears with an adj. prop. valve in there. I know I want to run a different master, one made for disc/disc. I know I want to run a dual diaphragm booster.

Wher I need help is which booster/master. I'm willing to fab somewhat but a direct bolt in would be key since I have a ride April 7th that I want to be ready for. HELP ME please. I can't stomach paying $450 for the MP brakes setup and I think right now hydro boost is too much for my small tires and I heard that my pwr steering pump isn't the easiest to work with for hydroboost.

I used to have that link to an old thread where somebody had a whole list of possibilities for boosters and masters but the link doesn't work anymore. I've read the article at madxj.com (will it work on a YJ). I want something that will stop me on a dime now and do the same when I to to 36's (obviously after a front 44 with bigger brakes).

I've rambled enough and I think you get the picture so.....help please. I've noticed in the old threads that brake questions seem to get avoided or ignored so please don't. I'm desperate.

thanks,
Mugsy

Somebody has gotta have some advice on this subject. I talked to Harold at Off-Again today and he quoted a price of $369 for a dual diaphragm booster, a 15/16 bore master (said it didn't matter if it was made for disc/disc or disc/drum), some line adapters and an adjustable rod.

Does anybody have any other suggestions. This can't be the only solution.

Go to your local salvage yard and look for a 77 or newer Caddy or Lincoln thay both had some that came with 4wheel disc.. My mastercylinder/vacum booster came from a 77 caddy.. The Lincolns I have seen had the hydroboost..

Was it a dual diaphragm setup and was it close to bolt in. Any other ideas guys? What about the 95-96 cherokee dual dia. setup. Does that work on YJ's.
