I just installed the RBW 15K L'il Rocker in my F-250HD and it's the first time I've pulled with a 5th wheel system. And I'm kicking my own tail for not going this route to begin with.

It was not a fun installation due to incompatability of install kit with the rails that came with the hitch (Dodge), requiring purchase of correct rails, frame drilling with a light duty 1/2" drill, failure to keep track of tools (one beer too many), and the fact that I'm too old to be doing this crap. But pretty simple and straightforward after RBW advised me to use the Reese Pro Series 15K instructions instead of their own (being revised). A better organized non-drinker with proper parts/tools could do it in two hours. But, all's well that ends well, and the family had a great time at Jellystone on Raintree Lake and at the ARCA 200 season opener at Salem Speedway this past weekend.

that's a big ass trailer! I'll take one for sure :) How does your truck do pulling? I'm assuming it's a PSD? Auto/Manual? What do you like so much better about the 5th vs. gooseneck? Sorry for all the questions..

Dual exhaust 2" pipes going over the rear axle int eh picture, and lack of a vented front bumper ......my guess is a 460.

Yes the fifthwheel loads up the trucks suspension alot better. my next gooseneck im probably going with a king pin over the ball and socket

Nah....I wish it was a PSD or 7.5L. I'm stupid as well as poor. 5.8L EFI, E4OD and 3.55s. Because of power and driveline, the getup is around 6K lbs over rated tow capacity. But, what the hell....I'm old and drive like an old man; people can pass me. 4.43 mpg and the toughest pull was 45 mph in second. Otherwise, it maintained posted speed limits though I only hit OD downhill and it was mostly direct the entire trip. But, it's as economical to operate as most motorhomes of equivalent size and amenities, although it ain't gonna be moving more than a couple of hundred miles from the house unless I borrow my brother's 2500 Dodge with CTD.

I blow the sucker up, I have an excuse for a new truck or 460/4.10 swap. The old woman loves RVing so much she won't squawk very loud.

EDIT: Oh yeah....the unit weighs 11,840 lbs. The difference between the B&W turnover ball system and the 5th wheel is a radically more solid feel in the handling of my towrig. It's like a giant hand is applying major force downward on my truck....absolutely no rolling in curves. I ain't a genius and I gotta guess that it's the contact area of the plate as compared to just the ball coupling of the gooseneck system. Whatever it is, I love it!

thats what I loved about the 5th wheel I sold to 4x4chevette...towed AWSOME!!!!...but alas...my 350 is too tall to haul it..and almost too TALL with my ranger on the back..

and the fact the trailer was too small to haul the ranger AND the quad/campin gear...

sambo..ya need a HUMONGOID cooler for that..like a freakin AC coil that yer runnin for a cooler...the E4OD wont tow that too much longer without some help!!!!

My Boss has a fifth wheel so damned big his 3/4 ton Dodge with the PSD was overloaded so he stepped up to a 1 ton with the HO PSD and an exhaust brake now he is like 4000 lbs. underweight.

Yeah, Tony....I'm chewin' it around in my mind. I sorta got a deal workin' on a 4.10 LSD, or maybe even a 10.25 complete rear axle swap that might materialize before long. Down in the shed, I have this huge AC evaporator I previously picked up to fix an old Town Car that ought to handle tranny cooling. As for the engine, the temp gauge never moved on the hard pulls but I plan on installing an oil cooler also.

I doubt the trailer will move again before ChubFest, unless my brother picks it up for a CA trip. If he lands a contract at Indy International, he'll be up her from FL for nine months and his Dodge will be available.

Actually, the only benefit of moving up to an F-350 would be in duals taking more bed cargo and minimal benefit in pulling a heavy tag trailer, as the F-250 and F-350 have the same GCVWR capacity. Never did understand that.

See ya at ChubFest....all of y'all come.
