Looking for pics, diagrams, napkin drawings, of winch mounts for a Scout II.
The more detail of the actual mount the better.
8274's mounted a plus..
Anyone make your own? What did you do? How did it work out?

Thanks
MJ

8274 fits REALLY nice in a factory Warn Winch bumper...

They "lay-downs" don't :(, but the uprights do.

It actually looked pretty good and didn't impede approch angle *that* much... but then you don't have the rock problem we do here :flipoff2: :D

Here's mine, 3/8" plate for the winch mount, 2" and 2 1/2" 1/4" angle for the frame mounts. 2" sq tube for the wings.

Joe - did you cut into the stock x-member when you stuffed the 3/8" plate in? Or does it sit on top of the frame still?

Looks low!

Optical illusion, or a body lift? :D

Sits 2 1/2 inches from the bottom of the x-member. From the side looks like this

OK, so the winch plate is actually in front of the front crossmember then, and a little more than halfway up the x-member.

'k.

The pics I'm seeing are great, thanks for posting them.

Anyone seen anything that mounts the winch a bit higher?

I suppose the highest one could get easily is mounting a plate somehow on top of the frame rails/xmember. This would involve some body chopping or a BL as I recall.

Just thinking outloud, as I'm going to have to do this eventually.

Keep the pics coming and any ideas you all might have would be helpful as well.

Thanks
MJ

here's a few pics of my new winch "bumper"

its not done yet, but should be about as compact as you can get an HS9500.

Sticks out only 4.5" past the stock front crossmeber :D :D

You can also see me "de-fanged" RS towers.... Next ones (when I do the RC44) will be more compact.

Heh heh, jeeps just fine..buildin' the scout so I can wheel it, while I build up the HEEP. :flipoff2:

Wheelin the HEEP while I build up the Scout.

If only I had a big ole one ton truck for a tow rig life would be perfect.

Dunno how it'd feel about a Jeep behind it.. towed a friend's Chevy 3/4T on my trailer just fine though.. "What Chevy truck behind me? Oh.. that one.. forgot it was there.."

That has much more character (and balls I'd suspect) than what I use for a tow pig now.

Strong enough to save my poor rig from certain death this weekend!!! Not too hard on the approach angle, either.

Character? Well, it IS an IH y'know..

Balls? Might be up in the air.. it's "just" a 345 at the moment.. though with 4.30 gears the 345 has no problem moving anything I've tried to tow thus far (Chevy 3/4T on the trailer, or a yard of gravel in the back would be the heaviest loads yet)

There's a 392 block hiding under a tarp on a pallet waiting for me to finish the garage... :D
