Has anyone had experiance with the Giant and/or Specialized bike's? I'm looking at buying the Giant Yukon or the Specialized Hardrock Sports Disc. They're realitively the same price and since I don't know much about either so would appreciate anybody else's experiance. Thanks.

I have a 04 specialized Hard Rock Comp. Similar to sport but has a beefier front fork(marzocchi mz cmp 100mm travel) and alex double wall rims. You mite want to consider those up graded parts when looking into a bike. If you plan to ride hard, agressive and if you are not a lite wieght ridder.

Guess I should've mentioned it at first... I am a lighter rider. My weight is about 135lbs. So would the fork be that big a deal? I thought that the sport comp had the alex double wall rims? Thanks for the info.

I've been out of the scene a few years, but back when I worked in a bike shop, Specialized made decent mid-level bikes, and Giant made crap.
May be much different now, I dunno.

I read a lot up on after I originally posted and decided to buy a Specialized Hardrock Sport disc. Noticed that the Specialized appeared to be built more sturdy and would be able to handle anything I throw at it. We'll soon find out. Thanks for the reply.

specialized is one of the best brands out there, really want one, but they are a little pricey.

Specialized, Giant, Trek, Jamis, and a few other maintstream names all make comparable bikes. Any of them, within the same price range, are going to be very close in quality & parts specs. Demo them & pick the one that gives you the biggest grin. :grinpimp:
