Can't afford a HP D60. What can I do to my HP D44 to hold up to a 4.3 w/ a NV4500. CTM u joints sound like the way to go but what about outer and inner shafts? Can I use D60 outers? What about hubs? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

okay, starting from the carrier moving out, this is what i would do

full case locker (not cheapo unit, like lock rite)
quality ring and pinion (dana spicer is best)
alloy shafts from Warn, Moser, or other
CTM u joints
alloy outer shafts
warn premium hubs OR drive flanges if you dont drive it on the street much

then i would lightly truss it, and still just keep in mind that i have a D44 front end when im gassing the shiat out of the 4.3.

good luck, but IMO after all these upgrades you COULD have afforded a 60 front- the CTMs are $150 EACH  and the alloy shafts arent too cheap either.

but run whatcha brung, so go for it.

The first thing you can do is read this post (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29255&highlight=ultimate+AND+dana) about building the ultimate Dana 44.

You *could* run 60 outers, but for the price of the conversion you could have a front Dana 60.
