Hey everyone-

I have the chance to pick up an 88 samurai for 200 bucks and all it needs is a new battery. My question is though, how cheap can I build this thing up for? I dont need a hard core buggy or anything like that but I just want something some what capable I can bum around in. I will be going to college in the fall though and will be on a VERY tight budget....so again much money should I expect to spend?? Thanks a lot for your time- Jason

You can build it as cheap as you want. When I first got mine I did a spring over lift that I made for 50 bucks and some used 33" tires and wheels. Had less than 500 in it, including the zuk price. Drove it for years that way. On and off road. It was a lot of fun but lacked power.

Depends on what you mean by "build it up". RX-4X4 nailed it though, a SPOA on a zuk is super easy and with some decent rubber they are a lot of fun and will do amazing things.

Spring it over, lock in rear and through some tires on it. About seven hundred bucks and you could do just about what you want. Oh yea weld some cheesy nerf bars on, about thirty bucks for that (small square tube)
