So i have been through two pumps in the past year and want to know what is going on.

let me update you on the setup: comming out of tank i have a car quest special lift fuel pump that runs into a pusher pump (holly) hi psi to the ford 5.0. the one acting up is the lift pump.

The first question is am i asking to much for that pump to lift fuel from tha tank? should i go with a in the tank pump? (not a big fan of this due to on trail repair). should i get a different pump, higher quality.

Placement? i now run 12 inches of tube from top of tank into the lift pump then 18 inches to the pusher pump. both pumps are located about 3 inches lower than the top of the tank.

any ideas?

maybe try a difforent brand, I think I am running a "Carier" feul pump, no problems. Been going for 3yrs. I don't remember if it was from napa or fleat farm.

sounds like you are running the stock fuel tank...I have a 23 gal. from Bronco parts and the fuel line comes off the bottom so I do not have to "lift" fuel...but I am running the BBK hi output/pressure pump for my 5.0 efi and have had no problems in 3 years...My set up is from the tank to a Fram canister style filter to the BBK in-line pump through the stock efi filter to the motor.
The BBK pump was like 250bones...but after 3 years and no problems, I can't complain.
