Hey, some of you may remember I recently purchased an 88 k5. Well, im finally getting around to fixing some of the problems.

1. My speedo is very sloppy. Its 'zero' point is anywhere from 15-25 mph, and it jumps around whenever im moving; especially when i start off the line. Can i just remove the needle and put it back down or do i need a new speedo cable? I should mention I have 33's

2. The Gas gauge does some crazy things. For instance, I was down at about 1/8th of a tank the other day on the way to class. I then get in after class, and it sits at about 1/2 of a tank. Then, the next time i get in, it will be around 1/4-1/8. Also, when i filled it up last night, it took about 30 minutes in the car for the gauge to rise from 3/4 to full, but it never got there. Do i need a new sender or what?

3. Last question: what size is the gas tank? I have heard anywhere from 22-31 gallons, yet when my gauge says 'e', i can only fill up to about 17 gallons.

Thanks in Advance guys

Either your speedo gear is going out, or more than likely your cable just needs to be lubricated.

New sending unit, bad ground, or intermitent wire short.
