what brand of four point harnesses are you guys running and what are the pros and cons of some different types? Where did you purchase them from?

Hey Donald,
I am running Dietz 3" lapbelts & separate 2" shoulder harnesses. Seperate meaning they are not connected to the lapbelts. The harnesses are also 2 separate straps, not the 1 piece one's that are Y'ed together. Understand? They wrap around a bar on my cage that goes across the backs of my seats. It wouldn't be a bad idea to run the crotch strap either, making them 5-point. Brad.

can any of these harnesses connect to the flloor behind the seats? or do you have to put a specifice bar into the cage for them?

you can connect either way, but racers will tell you there are reasons for connecting them to a cross bar and not to the floor. Something to do with spine compression during a roll....not good.

I run a 2" belt, don't recall brand, bought from TPI a number of years ago. Y-type back, and it uses a normal style lap-belt clip connection. Great for wheeling, since you are often in and out of the truck. shoulder straps are not-removable, no option for sub-belt.

IMO, for racing purposes, the 3" belt with the huge buckle closure, etc is worthwhile. For a low speed "casual" rollover, a 2" belt is fine.

I really think I will stick with the 2 inch belts. I'm going to have to look into the mounting options though.

If you like the way your shoulders work now, mount the starps to a bar. Crow has a nice section about the mounting and why on their site.

what is the adress for the crow site?

also do you attach to the bar itself, or go over the bar and dpown to the floor?
or would going over the bar and down to the floor, have the same effect as having no bar at all?

tia!

I have the Simpson 5pts. Just waiting on the seats to mount em on. They look great and just test fitting they fell good. There is no way that you'll move around in a roll with them

Who cares? If you have a bar, mount to that. If you don't, install one. Schedule 40 pipe, for example, is cheap and would be easy to weld to your cage.

Spinal compression is not something you want to mess with. Do it right the first time!
