magic smoke came out

So the magic smoke came out of my air compressor motor today.
5 hp, 220v 3 phase.
for not much more than the cost of a replacement motor (about $200 more)
I can get a complete ingersol unit.
the unit I have is a speedaire, 80 gal tank.
the other unit is almost same specs, but only 135PSI, instead of 170psi.
since my old unit is about 10years now, I am thinking pony up the extra bucks and get a complete unit.
or does anyone have a hookup on good used electric motors?

You can find super cheap 3phase motors on ebay all day long since noone wants them. If the compressor works well, that's the way I would go.

i just threw out a 5hp 3 phase motor off my compressor no one wanted it

Looked around the warehouse today and couldn't find a single 56 frame. Also realized when I tried to look up a y56y that it is a special mod from the compressor manufacturer. y's and z's in a frame # mean they have a mounting or shaft mod. I could probably get you a new motor and mod it but you wouldn't want to pay that much. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

thanks, I may have last night run across a deal.
guy has a 250gallon tank, big ass v type 4 cyl compressor pump, and twin 10hp motors on it.
can;t use it and wants out of it cheap.
Now I gotta go price a motor starte for it and see if it is a deal.
